I am a current senior at Davidson College, working towards my B.A. in German Studies and Arab Studies. I have spent many hours tutoring the German and Arabic language to college students. I have spent time abroad in Germany, studying German as a second language with AATG (American Association of Teachers of German). My years of being a camp counselor and babysitter have translated into my teaching methods and style. I encourage young learners to approach problems in multiple ways by retesting previously learned material and encouraging independent thinking. I am a huge believer in discovering answers instead of being told them. I look forward to working with you!

Learning a foreign language is one of the most rewarding and difficult challenges you can take. I use my extensive theoretical and personal knowledge of language acquisition and my understanding of learner profiles to help my learners reach their goals.

I am currently a sophomore, pre-med student at The University of Texas at Dallas with a major in Neuroscience. Before attending UTD, I was a student at the University of Georgia. I have extensive experience in tutoring and have had my own private tutoring business since I was in high school. I started out by working with students in high school, helping them with homework and SAT Test Prep. I expanded my clientele to middle and elementary school student in 11th grade and started working with local students. Soon after, I joined Varsity. The most important part of tutoring students is working on their level. I believe every student has great potential and there are certain techniques I have learned through experience to harness that potential. In high school, I was an active member of the Debate Team which taught me how to lead and assist my younger peers. Although I tutor a broad range of subjects, I have seen most advancement in my students in the subjects of English/Language Arts and Math. Whether it is SAT Test Prep for Critical Reading and Math or it is AP English or AP Calc homework from school. My personal hobbies include reading, writing and slam poetry. I am currently working on a novella, which I hope to publish soon. I am also a member of the National DFW Slam Poetry Team. I fully believe that an investment in education is an investment in your child's future.

I am a graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education where I focused on cognitive and social development. Prior to graduate school I lived for several years in New Orleans where I worked facilitating the college admissions process for low income students as the Director of Student Resources for Bard Early College. I attended Middlebury College for my undergraduate degree where I majored in History. I love the mountains, play the cello, and most importantly, love working one on one with students to help them achieve their goals. At Middlebury I worked at the Center for Teaching and Learning developing individualized study plans for students as well as working with them on their writing. I look forward to meeting you!

I believe that everybody enjoys learning. The frustration most people experience in school stems from the fact that the topics are approached in a rigid "one size fits all" manner. I will work with each student to tailor their learning experience to their likes and dislikes. Rather than use boring, generic objects I will use subject matter directly related to the student's interests.Furthermore, I understand that not everybody learns in the same manner. I excel at auditory learning while many others prefer visual information. I will work with each student in a way that I believe they will be most receptive to. I will help them understand how a word problem relates to a picture or an equation, which is the most vital skill to have in mathematics.Most importantly, I will help the student have fun. I remember a lot more information from the teachers who made learning fun and exciting than those who had dry lectures. I hope to leave the students eager to learn more.

You see, from the time I was a little girl I've always felt that I could be (learn) anything I wanted; It turns out, I could also teach anything I learn.I've loved and participated in performance based curricula from 9 years of age, beginning with concert band as a first chair flute right up to college and present. I was a cheerleader, regular participant in communication art showcases, and during college I performed with the University of the Virgin Island's Little Theater. I also joined a traveling ensemble theater group, freelanced as a commercial and voice over actress, and local television show co-host.Upon graduation, I formed a non-profit organization dedicated to providing performing arts education programs and events for under-privileged children. I've written and directed historical plays; and while employed as a Speech teacher I coached students for Poetry Out Loud and Shakespeare Festival competitions.Presently, I continue to learn, read, write and educate as I look forward to creating an intricate tapestry of life-long learners with every learner engagement I'm bestowed.

As a bilingual teacher for students with disabilities, I believe that I can make a great impact on their lives by using techniques that can only achieve confidence and create hope in them in order to learn new skills. It is important that students trust and know that educators care about them and can connect with students by learning about their customs and culture. This will allow students to become more comfortable with learning a new language and not give up when mistakes are made.Most of the students that come to my class have multiple disabilities and they do not speak or understand the English language. At times this affects their behavior because they refuse to learn the language either because they are embarrassed for making mistakes or they do not understand the importance of the learning the language for their professional life. As an educator, my responsibility is to connect with them and show them that it is okay to make mistakes because that is how they will learn and achieve success. Teachers need to always improve their teaching techniques and be open to learn from students because what might be work for one student may not work for the other student. It would be an honor to become part of Varsity Tutors.

I desire to develop myself by exploring different mathematical problems and provide means of solving and the ability to convey such solutions to students.I strive to give my students the best possible and easy solution to any kind of mathematical problems which makes them to ask less questions and the subject/topics becomes interesting.I am to make my client distinctive among there peers, by giving enough assignment and recommending books or website for additional studies.

I have 36 years of classroom experience teaching elementary school children in all areas of the curriculum. I also have 2 1\2 years as an online tutor for a public school district. As an online tutor, I provided instruction and assessment for elementary school students with a variety of abilities. I was responsible for planning, implementing and assessing all online activities.I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Connecticut State University in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood and a minor in psychology. I also completed a Master of Science degree program in Human Relations from Eastern Connecticut State University.I truly enjoy teaching and interacting with children! They possess so much excitement and curiosity. Their motivation and enthusiasm for learning is contagious!
