I am a recent graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia, where I earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees in French and Linguistics in May 2016. Sometime in the near future, I plan on going back to school to earn a Masters degree in translation. I have a passionate love of languages and language usage, and I derive great joy from helping others develop their skills in these areas. As such, I am a registered French, English, Writing, Essay Editing, and Grammar tutor. My goals as a tutor are to help students become more comfortable with the material that they are learning, to give them the tools necessary to develop study skills that are effective for them, and to impart upon them the same passion for learning that I possess, because I have seen that passion is a great motivator and tends to predict remarkable improvement. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy writing creatively, trying to teach myself different languages (right now it's Japanese), playing the saxophone, and going on nature walks.

I'm Steve, and hopefully I can be the person who helps get you up to speed with Spanish! I went to school at UW - Eau Claire and I have my Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish for Business. While I studied at UWEC, I also studied abroad for about 5 months in Valladolid, Spain, where I was really able to enhance my Spanish skills, and gain fluency in the language. Travel and culture are some of my passions, and living in Europe helped bring those passions to life. It is so fulfilling to be able to travel and know the native language, and that is the type of passion that I hope to inspire in my students. While in Spain, I taught English to a number of students, and through this and my own personal experiences learning Spanish (and American Sign Language!), I feel I know the best ways to get in touch with my students. Some of my hobbies include running, coffee, learning Italian and, you guessed it, TRAVEL! ¡Nos vemos pronto!
I am a graduate of Stanford University, where I received a BS in Cognitive Science and an MS in Computer Science. After graduation, I spent a summer in Palestine, where I taught web development, app development, and entrepreneurship to a cohort of overenthusiastic high school students; now, I've moved halfway across the country from the Bay Area to the Twin Cities. From volunteering with organizations like Twin Cities Rise and The Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute to checking out art institutions like the Walker and Mia, it's been such a wonderful time settling into this new place that I call home.
I am unsure exactly what I want to study, I will likely explore Public Policy, Political Science, and Symbolic Systems. I also graduated from the University of Minnesota Talented Youth Math Program (UMTMYP) in 10th grade where I studied up through Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus. With a teacher for a mother, I have been raised appreciating and understanding the value of education. I love tutoring and have been doing it for many years. I started a tutoring program at an inner-city charter school to mentor and teach underserved students ranging from K-12. Additionally, I have worked as an independent tutor for students. I can tutor for a variety of subjects, especially standardized tests and math. As a recent high school graduate, I know the college application and testing process well and can help explain and guide in what often seems overwhelming. I have also been tutored myself, so I know the value of a great tutor and hope to provide that for others. As a tutor, I want to create an environment of learning, excitement, and joy. Outside of school, I enjoy playing tennis, longboarding, and exploring the beautiful lakes of Minnesota!
I am a Dartmouth College senior majoring in Computer Science and Digital Arts with several years of tutoring/mentoring experience. I have achieved scores in the 99th percentile for both the ACT and SAT prior to college. While in high school (St. Paul Academy graduate), I spent my time volunteering at the homeless shelter, helping out with their daycare and tutoring children. Nowadays, I spend most of my tutor hours helping students with the ACT, editing college essays, or imparting some admission-worthy wisdom.
I am an avid classical pianist, EMT, swimmer, and tinkerer. I love explaining things and paying forward my knowledge to those around me!
I'm Emma! I'm a rising senior Classics major at Carleton College in Northfield, MN. I study Latin, Ancient Greek, and the histories associated with the two languages. Outside of class, I'm an RA, and I spend 6-8 hours a week tutoring and teaching college access courses in a nearby high school. In the future, I hope to teach high school Latin!
I am a native of Shanghai, China who has been living in the United States for the past four years. I hold a bachelor's degree in International Trade from Shanghai Jiaotong University in Shanghai, China, and in 2009, I completed a Masters of GlobalManagementdegreeat Antwerp University in Belgium. I am also an ICA certified mandarin instructor holding a Certificate of Accreditation in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.
I'm a freshman here at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I graduated from Wayzata High, and I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in neuroscience. At the University, I'm usually in class, studying, hanging out with my friends, or at club meetings! In my free time, I love to breakdance, write poetry, debate politics and economics, and participate in practically every nerdy endeavor possible (huge Star Wars fan!!). I love to talk and will talk your ear off if you let me! I love trying new things, exploring the city, and traveling. My teaching philosophy is that teaching is a responsibility and a privilege; I'll put 110% into teaching if you put the same effort into learning. With hard work and patience, anything is possible!
I graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, having majored in mathematics. Since then, I've worked for a number of health technology companies as a business analyst, usually helping to bridge the communications gap between programming staff and end users with clear documentation and presentations. I was also a theater nerd in high school and college, and (with my wife) developed and co-taught an elementary/middle school theater program for our neighborhood school. I've been a private tutor in mathematics for a number of years, working with local families on a handful of subjects, mostly pre-calculus and calculus. My favorite part of tutoring is helping my students to see that one little insight that can unlock the whole of the subject or lesson, and helping them pick the right tool or method to get a good answer.
I am currently a freshman at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in computer science. In the future I plan on either working on cybersecurity or game design. While studying at Washington University, I am also on the football team and help watch over the weight room in the athletic complex. I am originally from Minnesota, and I have spent years working with kids ranging from 5th grade all the way up to high school. Whether it be tutoring or coaching, I find it so rewarding to see how much progress that anyone can make through the course of working hard and having fun doing it. When I tutor, I believe that being engaged is vital to learning. I am passionate about math and science, and love tutoring anyone in algebra and computer science. I enjoy solving logical puzzles, and I treat algebra the same way. I firmly believe that anyone can learn math and science, and have fun doing it. When I am not tutoring or studying, I enjoy football and lacrosse, as well as following all Minnesota teams.

A tutor can focus on your student's specific gaps, reinforce concepts in ways that click for them, and accelerate progress in areas where they're ready to move faster.

They can target instruction toward state assessments, support grade-level expectations, and help students build the foundational skills that set them up for success in future coursework.
During the first session, your tutor will get to know your student—their learning style, current challenges, and goals. They'll assess where your student stands academically and ask questions about what brought you to tutoring. This foundation helps the tutor create a personalized plan for the sessions ahead.
Tutors often specialize in specific subjects, which means they bring deep expertise to that area. If your student needs help across multiple subjects, we can connect you with tutors in each subject area, or discuss which subject would benefit most from focused support first.
Tutoring rates vary based on the subject, tutor expertise, and your student's needs. We recommend contacting us to discuss your situation—we'll connect you with tutors and provide transparent pricing so you can make the best choice for your family's budget.
Tutors work with families to find scheduling that fits your student's calendar. Whether your student needs sessions after school, on weekends, or during the school year or summer, we can help match them with a tutor whose availability aligns with your family's needs.
Many students see noticeable progress within the first few weeks of consistent tutoring, especially in areas where they've been struggling. However, the timeline depends on your student's starting point, the subject, and how frequently they're meeting with their tutor. Your tutor will help set realistic goals and track progress along the way.
