I recently graduated from Indiana University (IU) with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Life Sciences with a concentration in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies. While I was at IU, I was a teacher's assistant (TA) for Molecular Biology. While this can be a difficult subject, I loved being able to explain the intricacies of it to students during office hours. I was also a member of Alpha Chi Sigma, a professional chemistry fraternity, for three years; we provided free Chemistry tutoring once a week and helped students with test prep. My favorite job I've ever had was as at an IU summer program for freshmen, where I was a TA for a class about feminist and psychoanalytic film analysis of horror movies. I absolutely loved working with my students and introducing them to the new, weird world of horror movie analysis. Currently, I tutor for Biology, History, English, and Social Studies. I'm very excited about this opportunity to be a tutor because I know what it's like to struggle in a class, and I wish I would have reached out to a tutor myself. It's so important for students to have the resources they need to succeed in and even enjoy their education. My hope is that through tutoring, I can show students another way of looking at the subject. In my spare time, I've been devouring audiobooks and podcasts about history, race, gender, and colonialism while I play Pokemon on my Switch.

I am an incoming college sophomoore studying Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I was one of the top scholars at Carmel High School in Indiana and have various experiences teaching and tutoring through leading the Carmel High School Science Olympiad team to Nationals for two years in a row. Many of my friends consistently come to me for help with various subjects because of my willingness to help and teach in a way that makes sense to everyone. My specialities are physics, chemistry, math, and economics but I am comfortable tutoring any STEM subject, the SAT, and the ACT. Some of my accomplishments include a perfect 36 ACT score, 800 on the Physics, Math Level 2, and Chemistry SAT subject tests, and a 5 on all the physics, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Macroeconomics, Computer Science, etc. AP exams. When teaching, I focus on making sure that not only do students understand different concepts, but also that students understand why and practical applications of the different concepts. As a recent high school graduate, I have a deep understanding of how high-schoolers think, what is covered in various courses now, and can connect with my students a lot more. Additionally, as an undergraduate teaching assistant at the College of Computing at Georgia Tech, I taught weekly recitation sections of 30 students and held weekly office hours. Therefore, I have lots of experience teaching and working with students.

I have a B. S. in Mathematics and in Mathematics Education. I have taught high school mathematics for two years and tutored mathematics for five. I’ve tutored everything from middle school mathematics to mathematical proofs and a variety of calculus courses in between. I was a teacher’s aide at the local college. There I helped students make the connection between college mathematics and real applications such as welding and automotive applications.I feel it’s important to make connections in mathematics to other content. This helps you remember it more effectively and quickly. If it makes sense it’s easier to remember! I can help you learn content as well as help you understand the” why it works” and “how are we going to use this”? I can also help you remember the important things and help pin point which concepts are the most important and why. When I’m not mathing I’m playing video games! I play on a console as well as my PC and phone. My favorite games include Diablo 3 RoS, CoD, Borderlands 2, Portal 2 , CoC and little Alchemy (just to name a few).

As an educator with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Indiana, I find immense joy in witnessing the moment a student truly understands a concept that once challenged them. With over 11 years of classroom experience and 5 years in online tutoring, 3 of which have been with Varsity Tutors, I specialize in Elementary English, Math, Reading, Science, Writing, and Social Studies. My teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive learning environment that connects with each student's unique interests, fostering both confidence and engagement in their learning journey. Hello! I have loved learning about and deciphering literature since high school. For that reason, I went to college to pursue a BA in English and am now working on a Master's in Creative Writing. While in college I lived in Italy and got the opportunity to study the Italian language and literature. Right after college, I started teaching high school English and fell in love with it even though the pandemic provided many challenges. What I love most about teaching is seeing my students make connections in literature or write an amazing poem and seeing how excited that makes them feel.
