I am a graduate of The Fort Valley State University and Cambridge College. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing. I also received my Masters of Education degree where I focused on Elementary Education. Since graduation, I have worked as a substitute teacher for over 15 years, taught first and second grade at a private Christian school and taught middle School Science and Social Studies in an inner city school, and lastly, trained new providers on the electronic medical records along with new IT projects in a hospital setting. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English and Elementary Math. In my experience helping struggling students takes understanding how and what is necessary to help students from different backgrounds learn so they can begin to love learning and want to learn more. I am a firm believer that education is the key to understanding this world in which we must live, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I give this credit and this appreciation to all of my students.

I am a graduate of MIT. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with minors in Management Science and Ancient and Medieval Studies. Since graduation, I have started my PhD at Georgia Tech in Operations Research. Throughout my career I have TA'd several math and computer science courses at the college level. I have also taught at summer programs for gifted middle school and high school students. I am passionate about tutoring kids in math and science because I think that a strong foundation in STEM at an early age can set the tone for their future. In my spare time I like to engage in athletics, and was a Division 1 rower in college.
I am extremely passionate about academics and learning; the value of each was inculcated into me at a very young age. I tutor a variety of subjects largely because I have so many areas of interests and have been privileged enough to pursue knowledge in those areas. I even enjoy tucking away "useless facts"...in fact, those very tidbits got me past the Jeopardy! Online Test and into the Contestant Audition!
I'm excited to use my experiences as a Harvard grad, bio nerd, high school science teacher, and college prep administrator to help you reach your academic goals!
I am a graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American History. I recently received my Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and began my career as an attorney. I am passionate about continuing my work in education through tutoring. I enjoy tutoring many subjects, particularly History, SAT Reading and Writing, College Essays, and Spanish. I love assisting students in implementing simple but effective changes in their preparation for Standardized Tests that show immediate results. I find this motivates students to continue through struggles in their educational pursuits. When I am not working, I enjoy yoga, running, cooking, traveling and playing the cello.
I am passionate about helping students learn, reach their goals, and have some fun in the process. I am a speech-language pathologist by training with five years of prior research experience studying language recovery after stroke. I received my Bachelor's degree from Rice University and my Master's at Georgia State University. I have successfully helped students achieve their academic dreams with higher SAT/ACT scores and top-of-the-class grades. My teaching philosophy is student-centered, interactive, and individualized to each student's goals, needs, and strengths.
I am here to help you succeed. But what does it mean to succeed? I think success is not simply a matter of knowledge or ability; it is also about attitude and confidence. Through working with me as your tutor, I hope to help you develop your confidence in your abilities and cultivate a positive attitude that allows you to tackle any challenge that comes your way.
I am an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Neurobiology (B.S.) and minoring in Jazz Studies and Biomedical Physics. While I tutor many areas within math, science, and standardized test preparation, I am most passionate about biology and algebra because of my interest in these subjects as well as my belief in their importance. I have always been the friend who fellow peers go to for guidance with work and because of this, I have learned the value of patience, communication, and empathy in the education process. I firmly believe that every subject I tutor is vital in a student's path to success and a greater understanding of the world, and because of this, I will fully commit myself to making sure my tutees have a solid grasp of the concepts being taught as well as the ability to apply them to real-world situations.
I am a college sophomore at Brown University. I've been involved in tutoring and mentoring since high school, and I'm excited to get to continue with that work here on Varsity Tutors! My past experiences include working as an instructor at a math learning center for K-12 students, as well as private tutoring for middle and high school students. I would describe my teaching style as conversational; my goal is always to work with you to find a perspective on a topic that makes sense to you. I find that I like to I emphasize a concept's relevance and applications while providing explanations, as well as by providing useful practice scenarios or past examples.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Evans's 15 schools with personalized tutoring support. Whether your student attends a school in the Aiken County or Richmond County school districts, we can match them with a tutor who understands Georgia's curriculum standards and can support their specific academic goals.
Tutors work with students to master Georgia Standards of Excellence across core subjects like math, English language arts, science, and social studies. With personalized 1-on-1 instruction, students get targeted support on the specific concepts they're struggling with—whether that's algebra, reading comprehension, or test preparation—rather than generic classroom instruction that may move too fast or too slow.
Evans schools maintain an average student-teacher ratio of 15.7:1, which means classroom teachers are managing large groups with varying needs. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring fills that gap by giving your student undivided attention, allowing tutors to identify knowledge gaps, adjust pacing, and use teaching methods tailored to how your student learns best—something that's difficult in a traditional classroom setting.
The first session is focused on understanding your student's current level, learning style, and academic goals. The tutor will ask diagnostic questions, review recent schoolwork or test scores, and discuss areas where your student needs the most support. This helps establish a clear direction for future sessions and builds rapport so your student feels comfortable asking questions.
Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors across all major subjects including math (from elementary through calculus), English language arts, science, social studies, foreign languages, and test preparation for standardized assessments like the SAT and ACT. We also support students preparing for AP exams and working on specific Georgia Milestone assessments.
Pricing varies based on the tutor's experience level and subject expertise, and we offer flexible scheduling to fit your family's needs. There's no long-term contract required—you can start with a few sessions to see if it's a good fit, then adjust frequency based on your student's progress and your schedule.
Yes. Tutors work with students at all levels, from those catching up on foundational skills to advanced learners ready for acceleration. For students falling behind grade-level expectations, personalized instruction helps identify exactly where the gaps are and builds skills systematically—often with faster progress than classroom instruction alone because the pace and focus are customized to that student.
Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who have expertise in their subject areas and experience working with students. Each tutor is vetted and selected based on their ability to teach effectively and communicate clearly with students. When you connect with a tutor, you'll know their background and can discuss their experience with students at your child's grade level.
