I am a Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I specialize as a writing tutor for middle and high school students, with experience tutoring all subjects for elementary and middle school students. I graduated from Providence College in Providence Rhode Island, where I earned my B.A. in History and Education while playing four years of college rugby.

I am excited to offer tutoring services to students of all levels. I have extensive experience in liberal arts subjects (writing skills, critical reading, etc.) and also have a history of success on multiple standardized tests, having scored in at least the 98th percentile on the ISEE, ACT, SAT, and LSAT.

I am excited to meet you! I attended Johns Hopkins University where I received my MA in classics and BA in classics and archaeology. I have taken Latin and ancient Greek through the graduate level. I received a 5 on a number of AP exams while in high school, including AP Latin, AP World History, AP US History, AP English Language, and AP English Literature.

I'm well acquainted with many of the schools in the area. I attended Skidmore College as an undergraduate, where I studied the intersections of philosophy, government, religion, and history. Skidmore was also where I began to gain formal experience working with young students, specifically by working as a Classroom Assistant. After graduating from Skidmore with honors, I began to work on my MA at The New School for Social Research, where I am focusing on Ancient, Modern, and Contemporary political, legal, and moral philosophy. While at graduate school I have begun to tutor a number of students, many of whom I have now been working with for over a year. My greatest assets as a tutor lie in my mastery of the english language, skills in logic and conceptual organization, and versatile ability to explain to students complex ideas with which they find themselves frustrated and struggling. My goal is to restore students to a thoroughly self-sufficient status in their academic endeavors, an aim which pursue by focusing on the identification of students' advantages and disadvantages, and attempting to develop a unique plan for each student as to how we might capitalize on their strengths so as to neutralize their difficulties. I can be flexible about hours, and would be happy to receive email inquiries from any interested parents or students.

I am a graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick. I double majored in Chemistry and History receiving a BA in both Chemistry and History. I then pursed a Ph. D. in chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania studying the synthesis of Marine Natural Products. After receiving my Ph. D. I proceeded to complete a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School studying biochemistry. I have worked as a scientist in an agricultural chemistry company and have taught Chemistry and Biochemistry at both the undergraduate and graduate level. I have tutored at both the high school and college level in a wide range of subjects in chemistry including introductory chemistry, life science/nursing chemistry courses, organic chemistry and biological chemistry. I firmly believe that all students can excel in chemistry and that much of the disconnect between the student and material is the abstract nature of chemistry. By using real world examples from everyday life and carefully crafted analogies many principles can be understood. In addition I have worked extensively on academic outreach programs focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and chemistry education in underresprented minorities both at the high school and college level. In my free time I enjoy training for and competing in triathlons, cooking and watching local professional and collegiate sports.

I am also a native Spanish speaker. Although I am available to tutor in a range of topics, I am particularly passionate about History, Religion, Geography, and all Social Studies. I have personally committed myself to improving education throughout the world and promoting its appreciation among students in order to enhance the learning process as well as intrinsically benefit the student. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and experiencing different cultures around the world, reading novels, yoga, and volunteering with youth.

I am a second year engineering student located in the New York City area. I have attended one of the top public high schools in the nation and I am currently attending a top engineering school. I have been tutoring professionally for over two years, at a private company and with my own clients. My students have shown great improvements in a variety of subjects, from SAT, SHSAT and Regents prep to Calculus, Physics, and Geometry. I specialize in mathematics, however, my writing and reading comprehension skills are of an equally high level. Having achieved top scores on both the SAT and SHSAT, along with various regents tests, I know what it takes to understand subject matter, and as a result, achieve high scores. I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.

I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.

I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.

I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.
