Teaching is something that's always come naturally to me. Learning, however, wasn't. A few years ago, I was the kind of student who would need tutoring; now, here I am. From coding and math to writing and SAT-prep, I've gone through it all: now, I'm here to help students get through their own academic hurdles, whether it be study habits or terrifying AP's. I've been tutoring since 2017, working to get many students performing above grade level, and most recently worked at Fingertip Learning as a biology and engineering teacher whilst leading scratch and python workshops. Volunteering last year at Lockdown Learning allowed me to discover that I am most passionate at working with students for writing, SAT Math, and coding. I pride myself in my interpersonal, adaptational, empathetic, and organizational skills teaching students K-12 from various backgrounds. I'm a big believer that progress is correlated with time: there's no better time to start learning than now.

I was inspired to become a tutor because I believe there is an easy way to explain anything, it's just that, unfortunately, most don't take the time to try. I am a former Computer Science student at Rider University, where I have been tutoring since the beginning of Junior year. My favorite part of the job is that the more I teach a subject, the better I understand it. The subjects I will be focusing on tutoring are computer programming, Computational Theory, and Basic Mathematics such as Algebra. Currently I am an IT professional at a LIS company, providing patient-critical services to hospitals and labs. I also develop websites on the side.

I've helped several hundred students in a wide variety of subjects, from executive functioning to computer science to standardized testing. I also help students with general support in math and English. Most of my students are around 9-17, but I work well with students who are older and a little younger as well. I also work very well with students who have specific obstacles or requirements, such as neurodiversity support or schedules that change a lot. Most of my background is in computer science, from my college major to my experience hands-on over the past 10 years. Regardless of the subject, I believe every student's needs are unique and every student is able to achieve great things with the right preparation and support. My number one goal is to provide that whenever I can, both to the student and to their parents. I communicate with parents outside of sessions a lot to establish their expectations, better understand students, and recommend ways they can directly support their children in their journey as well.

I am a Junior at Rutgers University studying computer science. During my sophomore and junior years of high school, I authored the first Java programming class in the public library. I taught children aged 9 through 13 the basics of computer programming and writing applications in Java. In addition to computer science, I am passionate about teaching math and am a firm believer that teaching should be fun and interactive to be effective. I am well-versed in all math subjects through Calculus 2.

I am a rising sophomore majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Data Science at Rice University in Houston, TX. Naturally, my favorite subjects to teach are math and computer science, particularly programming languages like Python, Java, and Scratch. I have found great enrichment in these seemingly daunting areas, and I hope to make them more easily accessible for others. As a founding member of the Ready for College Leadership club (RCL), I mentored high school freshmen and sophomores to help them succeed in high school and prepare for college admissions, while also providing academic aid. The best part of working with students is watching them grow not just as a learner, but also as a thinker. I always encourage students to be curious and let their true interests be incorporated into lessons. In my spare time, I love learning languages; I am a heritage Spanish speaker and a self-taught Portuguese speaker. I also enjoy playing guitar and practicing new songs to sing.

In high school, I tutored elementary school students in math, reading, and writing, and I tutored my classmates at my school's math center. It gives me the illusion that our existance can be understood and measured at times when nothing makese sense and the world feels like it's falling apart.
