I am a rising senior at Duke University. I major in Computer Science and am also getting a minor in Physics. I have had experience tutoring/teaching as a teaching assistant for three classes: Intro to Databases, Electricity and Magnetism (for engineers), and Computer Network Architecture. I have had industry experience in software development as an intern for IBM and a cybersecurity analyst for TIAA. Outside of school/work, I play the piano and train with the Duke Taekwondo Club. I am currently a second year medical student. I was a Physiological Sciences major at UCLA (class of 2015), and pursued research during my gap year between undergrad and medical school.

I am currently a graduate student at Northwestern University, pursuing a M.S. in biomedical engineering. My past experiences in tutoring are spread across a wide age range (K-12). I spent a few summers teaching and interacting with elementary students to help improve their math and English skills for the grade they will be entering. My passion runs deeply for tutoring music theory and math subjects. Encouraging people to see academic struggles as a stepping stone rather than a sign of failure is how I lift up the spirits of my students. Outside of academics, I spend most of my time playing piano, exploring other instruments, and watching tv with a cup of coffee and/or a bowl of popcorn.

As the eldest sibling in my family, I naturally grew into the role of helping my younger sister and her friends with their homework. Before long, my parents suggested that since I was already helping her, why not assist some of their friends as well? And just like that, my teaching journey began. As a kid, I went from tutoring family friends to, later in high school, volunteering to tutor kids with disabilities in math. Now, in college, I tutor several children ranging from elementary to early high school in subjects like English, math, science, and social studies. Through these experiences, I've discovered a profound joy in witnessing the expressions of understanding on their faces when a challenging problem finally makes sense. Their growth and learning fill me with a pride that surpasses even my academic achievements. I've come to realize that teaching is more than just sharing knowledgeit's about nurturing confidence and curiosity in others. My goal is to help as many kids as possible, teaching them not just concepts but also how to believe in their abilities and embrace growth.

I also have a TEFL certificate for teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) from Global TESOL. Since graduation, I have worked in the public and private sectors as a Business Consultant, including government, health care, and banking. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about ESL, Math, and Science. In my experience helping students, it is most rewarding when we go through challenging areas that the students are aware of and turn weaknesses into strengths. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students.
