Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student sent me his first draft of the Cover Letter for the Teaching Assistant position. I reviewed it and provided a marked-up Word Document and met with him to go over in detail the suggestions I made. The student's entrepreneurial experience with starting a private tutoring company provided most of the persuasive language used in the cover letter. It's definitely a selling point for him, along with his strong communication skills."
"We discussed the student's assignment for his advanced (post graduate) marketing project. We discussed a concept for the assignment, explaining principles and methods to determine a good course of action for the project, as well as the justifications for selecting that course of action."
"The student is a junior at a University taking three courses: Art History, International Business, and Marketing. He has no significant issues related to any particular course, but he recognizes a growing problem with staying organized (and I would add, staying focused). It is a very reasonable workload, and by introducing a few easy strategies, I am confident he will be able to stay on top of his studies."
"Today we had an impromptu lesson. We went over an economics test she had last week as well as began to prepare for a marketing test she has next week. She plans to study the appropriate vocabulary as well as highlights from the chapter. We did schedule another meeting the Monday prior to the test."
"The student and I reviewed sample questions in preparation for her test, and I was able to share a number of sample questions. We were able to cover questions including the basics of the legal system and the law, federal vs. state courts, jurisdiction differences, the legal process, the U.S. Constitution, and corporate ethics and governance."
"The student and I worked on the remaining section of his introductory unit for his microeconomic courses, and we worked through content and problems related to demand and supply functions, inverse functions as well as the identification and calculation of consumer and producer surplus. It was a good session and he seemed to have a better grasp of the content after our discussions, though he expressed a need to work through inverse functions a lot more. We will likely be increasing our sessions from once a week to twice a week moving forward."
