Staunton has more than just excellent schooling options, it is also a great town for entertainment. The playhouse is the world's only duplicate of Shakespeare's own indoor theater. The venue is modelled entirely after the original, with space to seat 300 people. The theater is a Renaissance-style theater that is meant to create intimate performances. Shows are put on year-round by the American Shakespeare Center's troop.

For a look at history from a little closer to home, visit the Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia. The museum aims to inform you on ways of life dating back to the 1600s. These exhibits show how early immigrants and their ancestors engaged with the land. The museum has reproduced several buildings from England, Germany, Ireland, West Africa, and America. These exhibits are complete with live re-enactments of daily life and informative plaques for you to read.

You can also learn about the 28th president while you're in town. The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum gives visitors an inside look at the life of Woodrow Wilson. The museum's seven galleries explore his life from his early years to his presidential work with World War I. You will be able to see his restored 1919 Pierce-Arrow limousine and a World War I trench exhibit. Close to the museum is the president's birthplace, a restored home in the Greek Revival style.

We reviewed basic trig identities again. The student had a hard time finding exact values of trig functions based on the value of other trig functions. I gave him guidelines on how to approach these problems and went over multiple problems. With the guidelines, the student had no trouble successfully reaching the answers.

We have reviewed the rule of similar triangles and relations of sides in right triangles. Two types of special right triangles (90/30/60) and (90/45/45) were specially highlighted as reflected in his note. In addition, what I most addressed is how to start resolving a triangle geometry question independently, and how to reach the target step by step. I also taught the algebra concepts and rules related to the geometry topics. I believe the student should be able to improve his study gradually, as long as he can continue to practice the topics by himself and make use of the textbook he already got.

Tutoring review by Joshua in Staunton, VA
This session was the night before the student's exam. We spent the time going over practice problems covering the various topics that we had done previously over the past few weeks. He was well versed in several topics including derivatives and limits. However, he had some trouble identifying how to approach different problems. Most of the session involved going through practice exam problems that the student had previously had difficulty with. I left him with some additional study methods for the exam, including practice problems and a test taking method. Also, if he had any short last minute questions before his exam, I told him he could email me about them. He seemed to be fairly well prepared for his first exam.

Tutoring review by Marisa in Staunton, VA
The student and I worked on a grammar concept: modals (can, could, be able to). We also went over the writing process. He brainstormed a topic, prepared an outline, and included examples. He was assigned another topic, technology, for homework. He will follow through with the same process we discussed in class. Although he still needs a basic foundation in the language, he really wants to work toward getting his GED. So, I will provide him with a practice reading text with comprehension questions for the next class. If he has too much difficulty, we will resume with the text I provided him with, which is an intermediate text.
