Since 2018, I've helped students through the Pathways to Graduation program achieve their High School Equivalency diploma by passing the TASC exam. My content focus for this exam has been English (reading and writing) and Social Studies. My teaching philosophy (especially when it comes to standardized tests) stems from my background in athletics. My whole life, I've competed, and what I've learned is this: the harder you practice, the easier the game will be. Regardless of the topic I teach, I aim to bring a variety of different examples and practice questions in order to see the topic from every angle - that way, by the time the test comes around, there's nothing that hasn't been seen before. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy running, reading, cooking, and watching stand-up specials or movies with friends.

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Economics from The University of Michigan. Since graduating, I have been working as a trader for a top-tier firm in Manhattan. While working towards my degree, I have tutored and graded several higher-level math courses, while also helping middle and high school students with homework. I believe not only in teaching, but guiding students to discovering solutions to problems on their own. Firsthand experience is the best way to excel in mathematics, and by facilitating a conducive environment for students to arrive at the answers, I find it is by far the most effective method of tutoring.I enjoy gaming in my free time. The best lessons, books, and materials in the world won't get students excited about learning and willing to work hard if they're not motivated. Motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic, is a key factor in the success of students at all stages of their education, and teachers can play a pivotal role in providing and encouraging that motivation in their students. Of course that's much easier said than done, as all students are motivated differently and it takes time and a lot of effort to learn to get a classroom full of kids enthusiastic about learning, working hard, and pushing themselves to excel.Even the most well-intentioned and educated teachers sometimes lack the skills to keep kids on track, so whether you're a new teacher or an experienced one, try using these methods to motivate your students and to encourage them to live up to their true potential.
