About Me

I am a graduate of James Madison University. I received a Master of Teaching in Elementary Education PK-6 and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies, Minor in Education and concentration in Math, Science and Technology. I am extremely excited to continue my passion for teaching children and helping struggling students! Growing up, I had my share of problems with school, which I now can use to better relate to my students. Having much experience in the classroom with all age levels, I have gained insight on the different ways to approach various topics and content knowledge. Throughout college I was very involved with the public school system around the area. At first, I was a math tutor for students K-8; then a mentor for a student to formulate better study habits and work ethic; and to conclude my college career, I student taught in various grade levels. Working one on one in a tutoring session, I really like to relate to the student and connect their experiences to what we are learning about. These connections trigger interest which then triggers motivation to learn. Being a creative and enthusiastic person by nature helps me form a positive relationship with my student so that they can trust that I will be able to help them. When I am not focusing my time on teaching, you can find me at a dance class, hanging out with my three brothers, or simply relaxing at the beach with a good book.
