During my PhD, I developed a teaching model comprising theatre games, theatre techniques, and creative writing for teaching literature and improving conversational skills. In the classes, I use tons of visual aids and conversation practice to teach grammar and help students refine their language skills. I recently started teaching through Varsity Tutors, and before starting here I have had extensive teaching experience both in and out of the classroom. I have taught ESL here in the U.S. as well as in Morocco, Nicaragua, and Spain, both to classes and in individual lessons. I have also taught Spanish and Italian, and practiced conversational French with interested students. I am passionate about seeing my students progress and gain confidence over the course of our lessons together, and I really enjoy getting to know them and their interests, which helps guide my teaching approach. By utilizing a student-centered learning approach, cultural competence, and equitable teaching, I support students with pedagogy rooted in inquiry, hypothesis, information gathering, problem-solving, and action. I encourage all students to adopt an open-minded approach, and provide support to gifted students, students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and Multilanguage Learners with equity.
