I am a current graduate student at Marquette University studying to earn a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. I previously graduated from Southern Methodist University (SMU) with a B.A. in Psychology (with Distinction) and Sociology. While attending SMU, I worked as a tutor for high school and college students in the Dallas area. Prior to college, I also had the opportunity to tutor students in elementary, middle, and high school, while I attended high-school in California. The primary subjects I tutor include mathematics, psychology, and sociology, as well as help with study skills and test preparation. I also tutor students for the SAT math, GRE Quantitative, GRE Analytical Writing sections.I really enjoy all of these subjects equally so my ultimate goal is to create an individualized and enjoyable learning environment that fits each student's style in order to promote the most success. Each and every type of successful experience builds an individual's confidence, which will further motivate a student to learn more challenging concepts and subjects. I truly believe that every student has the ability to learn and be successful, which requires the right approach to the material and dedication to master the small goals in order to conquer the larger goal.In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities, such as bike riding, walking trails, and horseback riding. I also enjoy cooking and baking, reading mystery novels, and trying new coffee shops and restaurants.

Elementary School Math Tutor • +18 Subjects
I am an undergraduate student at Boston University, studying Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, with a minor in Behavioral Disorders Education. I am currently an academic tutor in the Boston Public School system, as well as a Corps Member through Jumpstart; a branch of AmeriCorps focused on kindergarten readiness. Previously, I have tutored in local summer schools, focusing on remedial reading, math, and art in elementary school aged children. While I can tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about reading and writing. I believe literacy from an early age can change the course of every person's future, whether or not it is in an academic setting. In my experience helping struggling students gain confidence in their literacy rate, boosts their self-confidence and desire for knowledge. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be a key for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, running, and teaching my dog new tricks!

The original meaning of the word "Doctor" was teacher. As a psychiatrist, I have learned to first listen to my patients and then teach them how to find the solutions to their problems. I bring this art of listening and teaching to my non-clinical work.

As a tutor, my goal is to help you become more confident, prepared and the best student you can be. There's nothing I love more than sharing in a "lightbulb" moment with a student I'm working with and I will do all I can to support, tutor, and guide you through your academic pursuits. I am a graduate of Bradley University where I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology (minor in English Literature). I also have a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University Chicago. I have worked with students in a variety of settings (both in-person and virtual) including serving as a Corps member with Illinois Student Assistance Commission where I helped students navigate the college admission process. My current role is in career advising at Northwestern University where I advise undergrad students in resume writing, cover letter writing and other job application steps. My education and experience have prepared me to advise in a variety of subject areas including English, Psychology, Clinical Mental Health, Literature, writing skills and college/career advising. I believe in helping students identify their strengths and to empower anyone I work with to recognize what they're already doing right in their academic journey so that we can better identify new areas to work on. In my free time, I enjoy theater, my SPENGA workout classes and trying new coffee shops and restaurants.

With a B.S. in Neuroscience from Baylor University, and minors in biology and biochemistry, I have a passion for all sciences. I spent 3 years as a supplemental instructor for chemistry students, which made me passionate about tutoring and teaching beyond Baylor. I love seeing the "Ah-Ha" moment in students and helping them reach their academic goals. Learning should be exciting and stimulating, and I am here to facilitate that experience. My tutoring interests are mostly focused on Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Test Prep. Outside of academia, I am involved in pediatrics research, local volunteering, and spending time with my dog.

As a child, I loved school. I loved to play school, I loved to be in school, I loved my teachers, and I loved learning. Not everyone feels that way. As a college student, I hated school. I wasn't engaged and nothing seemed to keep me motivated. I have been on both sides of fence. I know what it feels like fail, and I know what it feels like to be at the top of my class. Somehow, I ended up in the insurance field, which suits me. I get to be social and that appeals to my strengths. I know now as an adult what will work for me and what won't; that's the beauty of failing sometimes -you learn very quickly what you shouldn't do. I think that is so important in learning. Each mind is unique and people cannot expect cookie cutter methods to work for all people. Being able to have someone help you to understand something in a way that works best for you will make learning more rewarding, more succesful, and more effective. If a method doesn't work for you, try something different, and keep trying until you find one that does.

I am a biomedical engineering graduate from Arizona State University and a first year medical student. As a student myself, I often times find myself leaning on tutors more than the teachers. For that same reason, I would like to help students feel comfortable working with me in the long-term for subjects like algebra, trigonometry, and geometry. But also, for short-term goals such as ACT test prep. I've taken the exam and know exactly how to help students perform well. I tutor students in a way that is fun, helpful, but also logical. Students learn best when subjects are broken down into simple, easy-to-understand steps. That's my teaching style, taking concepts and moving forward one step at a time.In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities and playing sports. Basketball, hiking, swimming, and reading are a few of my hobbies. I'm a driven and passionate individual that loves to see progress. I can't wait to get a chance to work with students and make them successful!
