I have a Ph.d in economics from Florida International University. I also have a masters in economics from Duke University and a B.S. from American University. I have taught economics in colleges and universities for over 20 years concentrating on principles courses which includes all AP econ. courses. I love economics and find it fascinating as every time a decision is made it involves economics and that includes decision on who you date and marry and where you live. When not teaching I love to read. I read a lot of non fiction from authors like Steven Pinker or Malcolm Gladwell. I am also involved in making society more accessible to people who are disabled.

I'm a Chemistry major at Dickinson College. I have more than 3 years of tutoring experience and I'm excited to work with you on anything you're struggling with.
I am currently a student at UCF pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Biotechnology. I graduated from Largo High School with my IB diploma, so I have already studied through a college level on most standard subjects. I also have prior experience doing both private paid and volunteer tutoring, so I am familiar with encouraging students to learn and understand new material.
I am an incoming medical student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. I graduated from Rice University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Medical Humanities and Business.
I am a licensed physician from Florida who is currently changing careers. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009 and have extensive tutoring and editing experience. While a student, I became a certified writing tutor through the Critical Writing Department. Since I completed my writing requirement at the University prior to matriculating, I was the first freshman tutor to be accepted into this selective program. The tutoring program involved a preliminary peer-tutor training course prior to beginning tutoring, in order to certify that I had the appropriate background to provide professional feedback to fellow students on their literary works and projects. After graduation, I worked for a full-service learning center where I created and implemented high school lesson plans for home-schooled students, provided academic support for students ranging in ages from 8 to 20 years old, and taught group and individual standardized testing preparation classes. I have also assisted students with application essays for various undergraduate and graduate programs.
I am currently a Harvard student majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Applied Mathematics. I graduated Class Valedictorian in high school and was named National Merit Finalist. I took 16 AP classes in high school, including AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science A, AP Physics C : Mechanics and AP Physics 1, with a score of 5 in all of the tests. I scored a 1570/1600 in my SAT and 800 in the SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test and 790 in the SAT Physics Subject Test.
I am available to tutor a broad range of subjects, I am passionate about test preparation, Accountancy, and Algebra.
I am a current undergraduate student at Duke University seeking a major in neuroscience and a possible minor in literature or chemistry. I have been tutoring higher level courses since the beginning of high school, and although I tutor in a variety of subjects, I specialize in writing, English, and essay editing (especially IB Extended Essays or college essays). I also help students with standardized testing, particularly in the SAT Reading portion of the exam. My passion for tutoring comes from my love of learning and helping others learn, and in my free time I enjoy painting, poetry, and fashion design.
I am a recent graduate from the University of Florida. I completed my studies in Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience and have minors in statistics and business administration. I am currently going on to obtain a Master in Computational Social Science at the University of Chicago. I am passionate about research, data collection, and analysis in the area of cognitive psychology. My specialties lie in Psychology and Statistics and I have a very strong mathematical foundation. I have experience working with middle school and high school aged students as a tutor through the national honor society club, which I was a member of as a high school student. I think that data science and research is important for our future, so I am motivated to help students learn and appreciate math and science as important tools.
I am also adept in tutoring english grammar, language, and literature. There are few things I enjoy more than a true challenge, whether it be physical or mental. I aspire to be a great inventor and hope that my ideas and creations may simplify life as we know it and bring health, comfort, and joy to the masses. My favorite book is "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett and I recommend that everyone read promptly.
I am able to develop an efficient, structured tutoring plan that is pleasant, reinforcing, and rewarding for the respective student.
I am a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University studying Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. I tutor many STEM subjects, SAT/ACT prep, and AP/IB classes! In the years past, I've mentored two robotics teams and I have experience tutoring at my school and in my neighborhood. I deeply believe that an intuitive understanding of educational content is crucial to success, and I implement this philosophy by teaching problem-solving techniques and strategies in addition to the material. In my free time, I love to read, paint, crochet, and watch TV shows. :)

Whether your student attends a school in the Pinellas County district or a charter school in the area, we match them with tutors who understand local curriculum standards and can provide targeted support aligned with what they're learning in the classroom.
Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards emphasize critical thinking and mastery across core subjects, and personalized 1-on-1 instruction is proven to accelerate progress toward these benchmarks. Tutors in Clearwater focus on filling knowledge gaps and building confidence in areas like math, reading, science, and writing—helping students keep pace with grade-level expectations and prepare for state assessments like the FSA.
Clearwater students frequently seek support in math (especially algebra and geometry), reading comprehension, and test preparation for state exams. We also work with many students on writing skills, science concepts, and standardized test readiness. The specific needs vary by grade level, but personalized tutoring helps address each student's unique learning challenges.
While Clearwater schools maintain a 15.3:1 student-teacher ratio, classroom teachers often can't provide individualized attention to every student's specific needs. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring fills that gap by offering focused instruction tailored to your student's learning style, pace, and goals—something that's difficult to achieve in a traditional classroom setting.
During the first session, a tutor will assess your student's current understanding, identify specific areas needing support, and discuss goals—whether that's improving a grade, building confidence, or preparing for an upcoming test. This foundation helps the tutor create a personalized plan that addresses your student's unique challenges and learning style from day one.
Varsity Tutors connects students with expert tutors who have strong subject knowledge and teaching experience. Many have backgrounds in education, hold relevant degrees, or have proven success helping students in their subject areas. Each tutor is selected based on their ability to work effectively with students and adapt to individual learning needs.
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects Clearwater students with tutors who specialize in preparing for Florida state assessments, the SAT (scored 400-1600), the ACT (scored 1-36), AP exams, and other standardized tests.
