Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had to write an essay in Spanish describing a restaurant that he is designing for an in class vocabulary project. He had some trouble with syntactical structures (specifically noun and verb placement and agreement), as well as his vocabulary usage. I taught him some tricks to use when translating an idea from English to Spanish, and he received it well. I left him with other homework to do for tomorrow, and I am confident that our next session next Friday will be excellent!"
"Today, we reviewed profession, adjective, and food vocabulary, and we introduced common -ar verbs. We now have enough vocabulary to tell simple stories. We've done a lot in the last few days, which might have been overwhelming for some students, but this student is doing very well. He is trying hard and is very serious about learning Spanish."
"The student had a packet covering conjugations of -ar,-er,-ir verbs. He needed a little help with small things, but overall I felt like he had an excellent understanding of the concept. He has made huge improvements in Spanish. We also worked on more homework with calculating simple interest, which the student also had no trouble with."
"We went over the student's homework. He did really well. He saved one sheet to do with some guidance. After that, we went over ser and estar. We did some guided practice, and then covered the verb ir with guided practice as well. We finished with the verb gustar. The student has quite a bit of homework to do. We will go over his homework on Thursday."
"We went over the whole first chapter. Also, we went over the words associated with marriage. We read about the kings of Spain and Jativa. We also studied the different tenses we have reviewed thus far and worked on the perfect tense. We then applied all these tenses to the new vocabulary learned."
"We went over the work I sent the student. We reviewed verb tenses. I asked him to complete the work I sent this past week over the week. He is really successful with the imperfect tense, but he needs some more work with the preterite tense. I know that he will get there with his persistence."
