I've always liked to travel and to know people from different countries. I've always felt that we are all alike, in spite of our "differences". I have friends from around the world, from travelling and from my jobs in international departments of publishing companies, which is where I have worked for over 20 years. I lived in England for 10 years and loved living in Europe, where I was able to reach so many different countries. I majored in French in college, starting to learn it at the age of 10 years. I became a big fan of French history, literature, films, food and people. I've taught ESL for about 6 years, to people from different countries and I love to help my students learn to use a tool that will help them in their work, studies, and lives and will make a big difference to their happiness!I love cooking, growing plants and vegetables, listening to vintage rock music, cooking new recipes, seeing films, going to concerts of classical music and rock music, and singing.

I obtained my Bachelors from CMSU in 5-9 Science/Language Arts teacher education and certifications from multiple states and the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (Overseas Military schools) in 5-12 (Middle/Secondary School) for General Science, English/Language Arts and Biology subject areas. I have been working with students in multiple settings for over 30 years and have over 18 years experience in various educational settings to include church, private, charter, public, home-school, co-op and virtual platforms. I have taught all core classes and many electives for PreK-8th and substitute taught/tutored for many high school and college level classes. I teach/tutor a variety of core subjects/electives for PreK-8, and High School to College/Adult Learners. My favorite area to teach/tutor is Beginning Phonics/early Reading and early Math skills but I loveteaching most anything I have experience/knowledge in thesubject/topic. I just finished up a graduate program and moved to Boston, where I am currently interning and pondering the next step in my career. I am a self-proclaimed "audio nerd" and do freelance work within sound design and audio production. I really enjoy the intricacies of language and would be very interested in delving into a graduate/doctorate program in German Studies eventually, as I have a BA in German from Bates College. Right now, I am studying for the GRE and applying to other grad programs in that area.I have enjoyed working with and mentoring children and young adults all of my life. Throughout high school and college I spent my summers working at summer camps, with children aged 6-16. Most recently I worked at AYF Merrowvista in the summer of 2014, where I led teenagers on adventure trips throughout New England. I particularly enjoy mentoring and watching children grow into their identities as they grow up and would really relish the opportunity to help your child not only develop their skills as a student but grow into a personable and confident young adult.

During my studies I began tutoring other university students of all levels in both German and Latin. Assisting language students has been a joy for me since the beginning, and an endeavor I have been eager to continue pursuing. There's something unique and inherently wonderful about the ability to express thoughts in multiple languages. Often times there is no translatable comparison, and it's through these discoveries that I have been able to truly understand a seemingly foreign culture. I am also an accomplished pianist with a classical background, and very much enjoy teaching piano to students of any level. As an undergraduate teaching assistant for college level Music Theory and Keyboard Harmony courses over multiple semesters, I am also happy to teach musical interpretation and theoretically informed performance practice.In the near future I plan to return to formal studies in the field of Linguistics to earn a Doctorate, and in the interim I have begun teaching myself computer science and programming languages. In this modern technocentric world, I hope to study the meeting of these two fields.
