I graduated with my B.S. in Communications with a minor in Spanish - including a 4 month study abroad in Spain which has fueled my passion for Spanish language and culture!Through tutoring I've enjoyed helping students with all different learning styles. I am very patient, and I love to see my tutees improving their skills and growing confidence with their knowledge.I enjoy my work as an advisor to International students and I spend my free-time practicing photography, seeing music live, reading, and exploring Boston.Learning to speak another language opens up a world of opportunities! I am a temporary lecturer at Baylor University, where I teach SPA 1301 and 1302. I graduated from Baylor in 2019 with a Master of Arts in Spanish, where I wrote a thesis on physical and psychological death in the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca. I am graduating from the University of North Texas this summer (2022) with a Master of Arts in French. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and another in French from the University of St. Thomas, with a minor in General Business, in 2016. I earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America program. My philosophy in language learning is to help the student fall in love with the language and the possibilities inherent in speaking another language; this includes studying the diverse cultures that speak it, not only in Europe, but in North America, Africa, and Asia. I want to help students learn another language to interact with more people and broaden their perspectives, in order to become better global citizens.

Bonjour or Buenos dasAs a French native married to a Colombian, tutoring for me is a mean to share the two cultures I live in. It is not only about the grammar, the conjugation but also about......walking your imagination through a French boulangerie (bakery) at 10am on a Sunday in Paris and sharing with you 'la joie de vivre' and little bites of heaven....making you realize how salsa music and more can make you travel and understand how Spanish-speaking countries are a blend of colors and sounds of passion.Tutoring for me is all about being able to adjust techniques and approaches to meet YOUR learning styles and teach with patience. I believe that the student-tutor relationship should be built on honesty, trust and support where the sharing of experiences and lessons learned goes a long-way in building your self-confidence.I truly believe that the relationship should be seen by both parties as a partnership where you know I am there to work with you to supplement classroom and individual studies.Ultimately, being a tutor is all about teaching you learning techniques and how to become a life-long independent learner.A bientt or hasta pronto ;)

At heart, I have unshakable faith in each student's capacity to successfully navigate all subjects. All it takes is figuring out where our individual potholes are, and filling them in! No more flat tires on the same old bad habits or missing information. For me, the best part of tutoring is watching a student realize he or she is not limited to the difficulties of a subject or skill. I love the moment when a student says "I guess I could be a math person!" Or, "I dropped the word 'loquacious' in conversation, you should have seen their faces!"Too often, we define our capabilities in such harsh and rigid ways. If we don't understand math as quickly as our peers, we aren't good at math. If diagramming parts of speech doesn't make sense the first time, that must be the only way to learn it, and we're out of luck. If we get so nervous for tests that our minds go blank, we resign ourselves to grades that reflect nerves instead of knowledge. No! Albert Einstein didn't begin speaking till he was four years old - what if he believed that defined his future? With a creative approach, individually adapted explanations and examples, and cheerful tenacity, I work diligently with each student to overcome learning gaps, build confidence, and reach academic goals of all varieties.

I graduated from Harvard College with a Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages and Literature. I have experience tutoring high school and college students in Algebra, Latin, French, and Spanish. While I love all of the subjects that I tutor, I particularly enjoy tutoring Spanish and French because they open doors to communicating with and understanding so many people, both near and far! I have traveled to Peru and hope to travel more in the future. I strongly believe that anyone can learn anything, as long as enough time and effort are given. I will go to great lengths to convey an idea. I love music and I am interested in counseling and social justice.

My background in teaching, training, and tutoring is extensive and diverse. I have worked with children as young as five ranging to adults in their forties. My interaction with students ranges from those here in the United States to students in Colombia, China, and Poland. Additionally, I have worked with children who are autistic, blind, and learning disabled. These experiences have taught me that everyone learns differently and at different speeds; but, most importantly, everyone can learn as long as they are willing to put in the hard work. I look forward to putting the hard work in for those who choose me to help them through whatever subject matter. Thank you again for reviewing my profile and I look forward to collaborating with you!
