The student and I practiced a analytical reasoning and logic games section. We attempted to increase his accuracy in logic games and his ability to pick out details on certain types of logical reasoning questions.
This session the students continued to work on logic games. We went over a variety of games, starting with some basic linear games to make sure that their skills in doing these types of games are improving. The students seemed to be doing better setting up the games and making inferences, so we moved on to a new kind of game that we hadn't touched yet - sequencing games. We did a few practice hypotheticals setting up sequencing games and moved on to actual games. After doing a few they seemed to be more comfortable with these, so we started on some grouping games as well.
Help the student to analyze his essay on a reading comprehension problem. Specifically, trying to develop his skills to identify the main point, supportive evidence, assumptions, shifts in pod etc.
Today we worked on a 4-star reading comp passage. We road mapped it together, reviewing what needs to be in a valuable roadmap. We discussed her homework and the difficulties she had with it. We also reviewed topic/scope/purpose-main idea and how to locate and use them effectively in reading comp.
Covered strategies to save time on the Reading Comprehension section of the LSAT. Also discussed ways to move through the test with more confidence and speed. Discussed the need for more individualized ways of handling this section of the LSAT.
The student and I worked on LSAT preparation with an emphasis on the Reading Comprehension section. Because the test takes place this Saturday, we focused on some simple strategies to help her maximize her score. We discussed timing, reading for the big picture, and prioritizing passages and questions within each passage. We also discussed approaches for specific types of questions and we briefly touched on some LR and Logic Games points and on overall test strategy.
