I am a graduate of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and a recipient of the IB Diploma. My academic background includes extensive experience in rigorous college level classes at the IB and Advanced Placement (AP) level. As a member of my school's math honor society, Mu Alpha Theta, I have volunteered my time at a local middle school to tutor students in different math levels from pre-Algebra to Geometry. Subsequently, I hold four Masters degrees which include an MBA in Management from Long Island University, Masters of Liberal Studies with a concentration in History and Political Science from StonyBrook University, an EdM in Education Administration from Columbia University, and an MLS in Library Science from St John's University. I completed my PhD in Management at Walden University. For the past 16 years, I have been a private tutor in the following subject areas; English, Writing, French, Basic Italian, History, Psychology, Social sciences, and Bible Studies. Furthermore, I am ESL certified from the Language School in Montpellier, France, where I obtained a certification in TOEFL and TOESL. I am experienced in APA format scholarly writing and can assist in all levels of written expression. For tutoring, I use visual and auditory, based on the materials that the student provides. I try to use diverse learning methods that are tailored to each student. My philosophy is that all people can learn given the proper supports and tools. Learning curves vary in length but everyone can achieve and succeed with the proper supports. In addition, I believe that critical thinking and high order cognitive learning is crucial to success in higher education and careers. It is important for students to learn how to compare, contrast, apply, analyze, synthesize, evaluate, and implement. Critical thinking is excellent training in executive decision making and judgment which is crucial for students entering the work place or advancing their careers. I have been passionate about helping students my entire life, as I grew up helping care for my disabled twin brother, I saw firsthand how important access to education is from a young age. Since then, I have devoted my time to my two passions, medicine, and education. I am currently in school obtaining a combination B.S. and Masters Degree in Biology, with a minor in Education. I love all the subjects that I tutor, and my favorite aspect of tutoring is watching a student's understanding of a challenging subject grow. I have tutored international students of all ages, assisted in elementary classrooms, and done peer tutoring in high school and college. I have studied using many different test prep companies, and I believe in putting an emphasis on methodology and test taking strategies. I also have access to every test administered by the LSAC. I have an abundance of material to work on from previous administrations. All my students will receive LSAT tutoring but also help with the application process and with law school. After my students have taken their exams, we begin with constructing the application for acceptance and finally I have plenty of law videos and outlines to help get students prepared for their first year of law school.
