The student and I studied for a home economics safety test he was retaking the next day. We also reviewed his science worksheet in preparation for an upcoming test. We scheduled his week so that he had multiple days to study for his science and math tests. I will see him again before his math test next week to work on any issues he had completing his study guide. We started it during our session, and he agreed to complete it later.

Tutoring review by Nicholas in Luray, VA
Today the student and I reviewed some worksheets that are due in a couple of weeks for his first day of 8th grade. We covered solving for an exponent in an equation, ratios/ proportions/ percents, word problems with percents, diameter/ radius/ area, and matching shapes for the exam. The student, at first, wasn't so sure about rounding to the nearest tenth/ hundredth/ thousandth, but shortly thereafter got the hang of it. He maintained a positive attitude throughout the session. In terms of strategies or study skills, I let him know that cross multiplication and finding the common denominator are the keys to dealing with ratios/ proportions/ percents. Wins throughout the session.

We covered many concepts of precalculus graphing. We covered evaluating extrema for many different points, rates of change, continuity, and more. Initially, the student had a difficult time understanding what the teacher gave to her, but she knew the material after it was re-explained.
