I graduated from Washington and Lee University with a BA in English then earned my MA in English from Southern Methodist University. My standardized test scores and essays gained me admission offers from Wake Forest University and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My GRE scores earned me a graduate fellowship in my current master's program. I'm pursuing an MBA at the McColl School of Business at Queens University in Charlotte. I completed an MS in Organization Development there recently.I have 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I was a High School English teacher who taught every grade level from standard freshmen to AP seniors. I love to help students prepare for all types of tests and improve their writing. Literature is my passion, and I can help struggling readers gain confidence. I'm an open-minded, non-judgmental tutor who loves to watch students improve.I take being a dog mom very seriously and enjoy spending time with human and furry friends.

I graduated from Washington and Lee University with a B.A. in art history and Medieval and Renaissance Studies as well as a minor in German. After finishing my degree, I moved to France and worked at the Chateau of Versailles and the Louvre Museum. I went on to receive my M.A. in art history at the University College London while working at the Tate Modern. My main subject of study has been the way that art and law intersect regarding concerns over originality. I am starting law school this fall in the hopes of one day addressing those concerns as an attorney. For students just learning the LSAT or for students who have been struggling with it, I know what it's like! I recently took the LSAT and have successfully helped other students conquer the test by crafting a practice schedule and developing specific strategies for approaching each section and each question type. Ultimately, you will be learning how to think like the test. The test rewards adaptability and given that are many ways to succeed on the LSAT, we can work together to find the best ones for you.
I'm a current medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine with undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee in chemical engineering and anthropology. I have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching since 2010, and am ready to help you with your learning needs! I focus on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and also tutor in a wide range of math, English, and Spanish classes. In my free time, I like to run, do CrossFit, volunteer, and watch TV!
I grew up in North Carolina. I first left home to go to school at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. I earned a BA in Political Science and minor is Spanish Language and Literature (after studying abroad for a year in Madrid, Spain). I graduated from Washington & Lee University School of Law (ranked #24 among law schools at the time). As a tutor, I have worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Charlotte, NC; the Lexington City Schools Reading Program in Lexington, VA; and Let's Read in Los Angeles.Outside of work, I read biographies about modern comedians and politicians. I also count down the days until football season, despite always being the only Carolina Panthers fan in the room.
I am a rising junior at Washington and Lee University working towards a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Poverty and Human Capabilities Studies. These subjects call to me because the skills they cultivate are rooted in people. The takeaway I hope most to gain from it all is the ability to uncover what literature has to say about how we can help people overcome personal, as well as societal, obstacles. My appreciation for books lends itself well to a love of tutoring students in reading and writing. As a result, I have helped many a friend craft and edit papers for college admissions. Even so, I possess a solid background in mathematics as well. Three years of calculus not only solidified my abilities in integration and derivation, but likewise ensured my constant use of concepts found in algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calculus. I often peer tutored students in my high school mathematics courses, sometimes receiving calls late in the night to provide someone with assistance. Still, no matter what the topic, I stay true to my goal to instill in my students the confidence to tackle any problem they may encounter. When I am not contemplating the next novel to add to my boundless list of must-reads, I might be found listening to classical music, practicing martial arts, or appreciating an unfamiliar film with my family.
I believe that each person learns in their own way, and I work hard to adapt to the unique needs of each individual learner. I believe that everyone is capable of developing their own strengths, and I work hard to help students realize their capabilities. I have significant experience teaching English as a foreign language, both in the US and abroad, and teaching writing to ESL learners. I have more limited experience teaching Russian and Spanish.

I've been an entrepreneur, business consultant, and faculty member for over 16 years. My credentials include being a CPA with a Juris Doctor, Master of Accountancy, and Bachelor of Science in Business. My greatest strengths are being a good listener, creating strategy, and following through. I'm empathetic, but I don't back down from excuses because I know that within every "can't" is a "can". I admire truth and transparency.
I recently graduated from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Sciences in Biochemistry and a minor in Philosophy. I am currently applying to medical schools in hopes of attending in the Fall of 2015. Helping my younger brother manage his genetic disorder, in addition to years of teaching special needs students at summer camp, has inspired me to pursue a career as a Pediatrician with a focus in Medical Genetics.Helping others through education has always been important to me; I have steadily held peer-tutoring positions at every stage in my own schooling since middle school. At Washington and Lee I became the first ever teaching assistant for an Introductory Biology lecture course, helping students to think critically and develop research grant proposals. I was also a teaching assistant for Introductory Biology laboratory courses. In addition, I mentored struggling local middle school students during an after school program created to inspire students to develop skills for their futures. My undergraduate biology research background lends itself not only to tutoring in Biology but also in Critical Reading and Writing. I really enjoy helping students with the Writing section for Standardized Tests, because I think that it is so valuable for students to learn the most effective way to express their ideas to others. My greatest strength as a tutor comes from my ability to understand the material through the student's point of view and construct metaphors to help them to also understand, and not just memorize, the material. I hope to teach my students critical thinking skills that will help them both to conquer Standardized Tests and to succeed in life. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering at free clinics in the Richmond area, running, learning to cook, and playing pickup games of soccer.
I am eager to help students tackle the LSAT, English, Government, History, and Philosophy! As a current law student and Ancient Greek major, I spend lots of time carefully reading and interpreting words and phrases.
Languages have always been my best subject, and I find that in class I am able to help kids with the material when they don't understand what the teacher is saying.
I was a Calculus I tutor in college through Washington and Lee University, and students would tell me that they specifically preferred my tutoring methods over those of other tutors that the university employed on other nights. Students that I tutored would even track me down in the library on my off nights for help if they had an upcoming exam.I'm available to tutor during the day, the evening, or at night all months of the year.
