The student and I continued to work through problems together. Today, we dealt with issues of area, apothems, regular polygons, and special triangles. He has a broad knowledge of the subject, effectively referring back to relevant formulae and equations consistently but finds himself making certain errors repeatedly. We are working together to overcome these issues and make him confident in his ability to problem-solve efficiently. His test is tomorrow, so I told him that if he is at all nervous he should re-do all the problems we did together on a separate piece of paper, referring back to our work if gets stuck; practice does indeed make perfect here.

Specifically, we used free body diagrams to determine the necessary equations of motion of an object and used it to determine whatever the questions may have asked. The student was very receptive to the concepts used and picked up examples fairly quickly, once the concepts were explained.

As this was our last session together, we really focused on wrapping up everything we had learned together. We did a few practice problems from each test section, but we focused more on overall strategy rather than actually getting the answer. The student is confident about and prepared for his upcoming exam. If possible, we may meet one final time for a small session before the SSAT on Saturday.
