Tutoring review by Richard in Falls Church, VA
The student has been doing a project in algebra class with catapults and marshmallows with a friend. He had to fire the catapult three times and measure the time and distance of the shot, then write a quadratic equation based on the info his teacher gave him, and graph the equation. So we reviewed all the calculations for his data and came up with what he thought were reasonable results, and I agree. He was really into it and we had a good time doing the work.

Tutoring review by Michael in Falls Church, VA
The student and I met to go over more problems dealing with areas of polygons (including interior and exterior angles), in addition to circles, circumferences, and sectors. Overall, the student has a great foundation. We made note of the steps needed to arrive at the solution, and being careful to focus on the details and what the question is asking for. I believe she will have no problem doing well on her quiz the next day.

Tutoring review by Li-Yea in Falls Church, VA
The student did really well today. We finished going over percent word problems I had prepared for her from last week. Today we started reviewing fractions: simplifying them, converting from mixed to improper, addition and subtraction. She seemed to remember most of the rules and only made a couple of calculation errors. I wonder if she is too reliant on using the calculator, but seeing as how her teachers allow calculator use, I am not too terribly concerned as long as she understands the concepts behind solving each type of problem. She also does not make computation errors on the calculator (i.e., typing the wrong signs or numbers), so again, I am not too concerned with her heavy use of calculator as of yet.
