I am a graduate of North Carolina State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Biology and minors in Spanish and Nutrition. Since graduation, I moved to Los Angeles to serve with AmeriCorps through the American Red Cross where I taught disaster preparedness and helped with disaster recovery. Throughout my undergraduate education I traveled to the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua with Outreach360 on seven trips to teach Spanish Literacy and Public Health. I returned several times and witnessed the power of education in transforming impoverished communities. At North Carolina State University, I taught children how to eat healthy on a fixed income through Cooking Matters. I am currently teaching CPR and First Aid with the Red Cross and volunteer at a free clinic in Santa Monica while I apply to Medical School. While I have taught a broad range of subjects, Biology and Spanish are my passion. In my spare time, I enjoy riding horses, yoga, and hiking.

While attending school, I became an Education Intern at the local museum and taught local history and art lessons to students ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade. This was when I first had a taste of the valuable and rewarding experience of teaching. After graduation, I decided to teach English abroad in Hanoi, Vietnam. I lived there for a year teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to a wide range of classes from Fundamentals for pre-kindergarteners to Business English for adults. During this time, I began tutoring college level students in Speaking, Listening, Reading or Writing with a specific topic focus. I also have experience teaching the Language Arts, Grammar, Essay Writing, Public Speaking and Debates, Literature, Phonics and Arithmetic here in San Diego. I find that I am most passionate about teaching English and the Arts because I can have so much fun with it! I am a firm believer in making education accessible to all learners, so I plan and prepare my lessons to be dynamic and engaging. During my free time, I enjoy practicing yoga, hiking in Mission Trails, playing my ukulele, listening to old records, cooking, baking, and planning my next travel adventure.

If a student is asking for help, then they are an inspiration, in and of itself.I am currently a software engineer, but I started as an educator early in life. I began teaching as a teacher's assistant at Eckerd College. At the time, I honestly thought I had the best job in the world. I realized I aspired to see other people have those "A-ha" moments.Many years later, I'm sure I wasn't wrong.I would later go on to teach English As a Second Language while I lived in Colombia for a couple of years. My desire to elevate others continued and witnessing their victories, big and small, continued to impact me. I had a particular student who worked with me for 2 years. He walked in with no knowledge. We were having full conversations in English towards the end. Working with them was one of my proudest moments.I am an educator, through and through. I look forward to working with you!

I graduated UC Santa Barbara in 2014 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. After graduation I started working as a medical scribe at a pediatrics office and currently I am applying to medical school. With my background in the sciences I look forward to tutoring students in a broad range of sciences as well as math. While at UCSB, I volunteered in a first grade classroom and assisted students one-on-one. I also volunteered with SciTrek, a program that allowed students to create their own science experiment. Throughout my schooling I have enjoyed working with peers in group setting and unofficially tutoring my younger sibling and cousins. I recognize the importance of individualized learning and will bring that into each tutoring session. As a tutor, I will build upon students foundation of knowledge to build from the ground up and allow full understanding of more complex topics. As a Journalism student and PR professional, the precision with which I was taught to write has imbued me with a keen sense of what constitutes not just good but great writing. Editing, proofreading, and revision are second nature to me as are the intricacies of English syntax and grammar.Helping others achieve confidence in their work, no matter the topic, is the goal of my tutoring.
