I am a Senior at Fordham University, where I am double majoring in Humanitarian Studies and Communications and Culture. My academic undergrad research is focused on fan fiction and participatory culture. I have worked in communications with INEE, immigration casework at the Office of U.S. Senator Gillibrand, refugee resettlement with Catholic Charities, procurement with URENCO USA, and as a children's librarian assistant. This fall, I will be attending law school, with the intent of pursuing a career in immigration public policy after graduation. Hobbies: reading, writing, art, books, music

I'm not that guy! Like many students, understanding comes with repetition of principles and hard work. I have the perspective of a student trying to understand, not a teacher trying to preach. I love working with people from the ground up; we start at the comfort zone and work our way to improvement. I know I don't know everything, so I'm excited to learn as well!

My tutoring approach is one of coaching, mentoring, and helping the student understand exactly what level and detail of help that they need to get ahead. Combining the personal discipline learned during 20 years as a Naval Officer with the unique expertise learned in one-on-one communication with peers and sailors as well as my five children, I can help you or your child succeed. A Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, and a Math Minor help qualify me for tutoring in many subjects. My individualized tutoring methods also raised my step-son's Physics grade from a C to an A in one semester. I specialize in mathematics (basic arithmetic through calculus) but can help in many other subjects. Learning should be fun, but should also, at times, bring "Instant" results. I am a senior at Brigham Young University under an academic scholarship and working towards my English Teaching B.A. After obtaining my degree I plan to become a high school English teacher. I have been tutoring students for seven years in various subject fields, particularly in remedial English and ESL classes as an in-class peer tutor. I also love to tutor for the ACT and want to help as many students as possible realize their biggest dreams within the world of academia (and encourage their other dreams outside of it!). I enjoy tutoring because I love to help students build confidence in school, and help them learn how to enjoy learning. There are so many students that are discouraged and disheartened in the typical classroom setting because they aren't able to receive the individualized attention they require. I love to relate academic concepts to the student's personal life and teach them better habits for eventual success on their own. I am a firm believer that everyone has a unique learning style, and I like to help students discover what theirs is and the ways that they can change their study habits and how they participate in the classroom. Once the student learns how they learn best, they become much more confident going forward in school and feel a significant reduction in anxiety during tests (a challenge many students face). When I'm not focused on my own school work or helping others excel in theirs, I love to read, create paintings with watercolor pencils, and participate in musical theatre.

Part of my success in college came from the preparation I had from taking AP Calculus and Physics courses in high school. I'm a huge fan of visual aids and examining real-life examples and applications when teaching. I worked as a learning assistant in an astronomy lab course and as a tutor for student athletes in geology while attending CU. I've been honing the ability to craft perfect analogies to help you make sense of mathematical or physical concepts.
