I love working with students! I love learning about students' interests and making tutoring sessions as meaningful and engaging as possible. Working through challenging subjects like reading portions of the ACT or math can actually be fun. We can learn a lot about ourselves through these experiences.I bring a love of music and sports and travel to the work I do. Honestly, everything we do can be an adventure if we approach it with the right attitude and perspective. I believe with the right support and guidance we can overcome just about any challenge we are presented with.I graduated with a Master's from DePaul University this past June with honors. I was the kid who barely squeezed out of high school. I get the struggles. But we have all the resources we need to overcome them!

Hi! My name is Megha and I am currently a graduate student at George Washington University. I went to college at NC State and majored in Biology and have a double minor in Anthropology and Psychology. During my time in college, I spent 4 years tutoring college students in Calculus and Chemistry. After I graduated, I went to St. George's University to get my MD. I have always aspired to be a doctor! During the pandemic, when schools went online, I found that a bunch of kids in my neighborhood needed help with their math homework. So I have experience in tutoring elementary, middle, and high school math as well. My favorite tutoring moments are when my student gets the "ah-ha!" Outside of school and hospitals, I like to play with my dog Simmba, read, watch TV, and paint. I look forward to working with you!

Education has always been of high value and priority in my life. As a daughter of an educator, schooling was always essential in my household. Moving through my academic career I slowly realized that my passion for learning could be turned into a profession. My love of learning and my propensity for compassion led me to become an educator. I am in the process of finishing my Master's Degree in Secondary Education but have my bachelor's in English. Additionally, I have a background in history and certification in K-12 English education.Currently, I am working as a high school English Teacher in a Blue Ribbon school district in New Jersey. Prior to this position, I worked as a preschool teacher, teacher assistant for special needs students, swim instructor, camp counselor, nanny, and had a practicum and student teaching experience at the middle school and high school level. Beyond my love for the learning process, I genuinely enjoy working with children and young adults. I enjoy working with young people and helping them achieve both academic and personal goals.I firmly believe that all children can learn and as an educator I strive to create a learning environment that fosters that belief. I also use culturally responsive teaching as well as differentiated instruction to ensure all my students are learning. My enthusiasm and positivity creates for a fun and interactive learning environment where all students are engaged in the learning process. It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent teacher who will make an excellent addition to your child's learning experience.

I have been a tutor for 6 years in multiple subject areas including Math and Language Arts; however, my background heavily focuses on Biology. As a tutor, it is necessary that I evaluate students' progress while strengthening their knowledge of the covered material and evaluate whether my teaching skills needed to be tailored to the student. The experience that I have gained over the years as a tutor has allowed me to understand how to clearly express the topic that I am teaching in a concise and understandable way. By doing so, I was able to motivate students to succeed in course work and standardized testing, as well as develop keen study skills.I am currently completing my doctoral research in Biology in hopes of becoming a research scientist. This training has allowed me to familiarize myself with multiple aspects of Biology including basic Biology, Microbiology, Cellular Biology and cancer biology. My duties as a Ph.D. candidate within the lab include oversight and mentoring roles of several undergraduate students. I was a biology laboratory instructor for two years while being a full-time graduate student involved in multiple laboratory projects. During this time, I participated with and assisted faculty in the development, implementation, and integration of simulation activities for biology majors and non-majors. I instructed students in selected technical aspects including dissection and provided instructional support in the simulation and skills lab. I was required to evaluate and continuously improve the effectiveness of laboratory experiment, schedule and coordinate activities for each science course, troubleshoot and resolve problems and maintain records and grades for all students. My graduate and undergraduate education has focused heavily on biological concepts and laboratory research. This training has allowed me to familiarize myself with several aspects of biology. I have also utilized a number of molecular and cellular biology techniques that apply to basic biology courses that I have taught. I spent much undergraduate time in several laboratories including internships at the Medical University of South Carolina as well as the United States Department of Agriculture/Agriculture Research Services. These opportunities have strengthened my background in biology that is not only limited to research, but exemplify my ability to instruct students in many different areas of interest.

Aside from having my master's degree in information technology and game design, I have taught kids and adults in some form or another for most of my adult life. I've taught in school, homeschool, and informal settings, large classes and one-on-one coaching. I've developed curricula and lesson plans both for my classes and for others'. I love teaching, and students have said that I'm fun, funny, nerdy, passionate, and creative. My expertise lies in technology, particularly in the following areas: general computer use, computer science, software engineering, programming (JavaScript, PHP), web development, web design, game design, graphic design, marketing design, desktop publishing, and the Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, InDesign, etc.). I am also a fan of project-based learning: I can coach a technology project from beginning to end.I've been programming since age ten, and developing web sites for as long as there's been an Internet. I have my master's degree in information technology and game design (4.0 GPA) and continue to learn devotedly, even as trends in technology rapidly change. I have my own web design business, specializing in custom sites.I ran a print/web marketing business for ten years, advising clients on designs for their marketing. I understand layout, composition, eye pathing, communications, color theory, typography, fontography, and design history. I also use PhotoShop and InDesign almost every day, frequently creating custom art and graphics for my web design clients. All of my areas of expertise are highly marketable in today's IT job environment. I have a bachelor degree in Physics Engineering, and a Master's degree in Physics, both from University Laval Quebec, Canada. A Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Montreal, Canada, and postdoctoral training at the Upstate Medical University of the State University of New York. I taught at the college level for 18 years, and I enjoyed it immensely. I love teaching, I love the student interaction, I particularly enjoy seeing students maturing in their learning and practice of science. The fact that I still interact with my graduate students many years after graduation attests of my relation with them. My tutoring approach consists at listening to students, find the gray areas, and implement original ways to address points that may have been missed in their learning. I like scaffolding when teaching concepts, e.g, solve problems steps by steps for students, but as we progress in the sessions I bring the students to intervene more more in the solutions, i.e., progressively removing the scaffold. This way the students better develop their abilities to solve problems. They learn how to retrieve from their own knowledge base. Learning is fun. I will not spare any efforts to make my teaching effective still enjoyable.

In college, I have extensive experience as a tutor for introductory biology and statistics courses, as well as a teaching assistant for advanced biology courses such as genetics. While I can tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about the sciences, such as biology, chemistry, and physics.
