About Me

I am a recent graduate of the University of Arizona, with a BS in Biology and minors in Mathematics and Biochemistry. I am currently working on computer coding and enjoy tutoring students, specializing in test preparation for the ACT, SAT, and GRE.I have nine years of tutoring experience, tutoring students from elementary age to graduate level, as well as working with students with special needs. I particularly enjoy tutoring mathematics, biology, and helping students prepare for standardized tests. I can also tutor in writing and reading, since I have experience as a professional copy editor. My focus when tutoring is student understanding. I believe academic goals are more readily achievable when concepts are understood, rather than formulas memorized. When helping students prepare for standardized tests I focus on taking practice exams and working with students on the areas they need the most help. Outside of school I enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, and cooking. I like to explore new ways of doing things and being outside. I like to try to strike a good balance between learning, working, and enjoying time by myself, as well as with friends and family. I am very organized, but have a rather easy-going personality and enjoy working with others.
