I am a recent Master's Grad in Chemistry from Princeton University. My main teaching experience comes from lots of tutoring in high-school and working as a TA at Princeton this past year (my kids even won me a teaching award for their good reviews!). Before that I got my B.A. in Chemistry from Northwestern University. I'm originally from the Jersey Shore area and went to a special math and science high-school for Ocean County students (also I was Math League captain and have been 2x Ocean County Math League champ). My specialties are in Chemistry and standardized test Math prep. I make sure to have a good time with all of my students and like to joke around while making sure we stay on track. I was homeschooled for the first seventeen years of my life by my mother, a certified teacher, in the Seton curriculum. Summer vacations consisted of camping trips to sites such as Gettysburg and Colonial Williamsburg, which contributed to my lifelong appreciation of history. This education was supplemented by courses at Gloucester County College, from which I graduated with an Associates Degree (A.A) in Arts and Sciences. I then transferred to St. Bonaventure University, graduating magna cum laude in 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in general History. My introductory experience to the Spanish language was a semester abroad in Sevilla. My interests remain broad and unsated to this day, including history, literature, myth and an occasionally problematic fascination with fantasy literature. I have since channeled these into pursuit of a Master's Degree in American History and Culture. The next step will be a certification in ESL education.I find a balance of vigorous exercise and leisure time essential to a focused mind. While I no longer play baseball or (roller) hockey, I run and ride my ten-speed often and watch an odd game when I can. Concerning leisure, I've been learning to play the guitar since I was fourteen and enjoy music ranging from classical to rock and hip hop.

I am extremely passionate about history and writing, and I have enjoyed tutoring students in these subjects for over five years. I began my journey as an educator in 2017, when I taught lessons about human rights and the history of religion to high school students in the San Francisco Bay Area. I continued honing my educational skills at Carleton, where I worked as a tutor and mentor for students with learning differences. I used my deep knowledge of history and writing to help students proofread their essays, study for humanities courses, and teach them important executive functioning and study skills to help them succeed in college. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to form empathic and intentional connections with my students. Currently, my Master's capstone project on pediatric chronic pain interventions is being displayed in poster format at the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association's annual conference, and I will be presenting in November at the Post Conference Institute on Children & Youth, as well as the Post Conference Institute on Fieldwork/Capstone Education.I love learning and I love sharing knowledge with others!

I graduated from Cornell University in May 2011 with a B.A. in Mathematics. I am currently a Mathematics Ph.D. student at the City University of New York Graduate Center. I have been teaching and tutoring since middle school, where I started helping my friends with their homework. I tutored privately throughout high school, teaching subjects such as algebra, geometry, calculus, biology, and physics. At Cornell, I was a tutor in the Math Support Center, a walk-in tutoring service for all areas of math. In addition, I was a calculus course assistant, running problem-solving sessions. During the summer of 2011 I taught a five-week SAT Math prep course to rising high school juniors.I usually mold my teaching methods to fit the needs of my students. I believe the key to tutoring is to help the student have an "Aha!" moment, when a previously misunderstood concept suddenly makes sense. Such moments give students a real sense of confidence in themselves and agency in their learning, as their hard work has paid off. Because of this, when teaching I aim to get my students to come to conclusions themselves, instead of giving them the answers.My main academic interest is mathematics, specifically algebra and algebraic geometry. I am an attorney and CPA with years of business experience. During the past few years I have been forming and organizing new business entities and teaching the new business owners and their employees the basics in accounting and other record keeping requirements and tax compliance. I have the desire and the ability to teach and am motivated to help a student reach their education goals by utilizing my accounting, tax, legal and business skills and background. I view accounting, law, and taxation as languages that need to be learned to effectively communicate and grow in today's business world. I can remember what it was like not to be able to speak or understand these languages and I am particularly skilled at helping a new or struggling student who is confused or lost in the learning process to understand the basic rules and protocols of these languages and become skilled in communicating with them.
