Zhaleh

1st Grade Math Tutor • +33 Subjects

My name is Zhaleh BassiriRad and I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering and Japanese at Carnegie Mellon University. I enjoy tutoring because I love sharing knowledge with others, especially in one-on-one sessions, or with a small group. Teaching others is a great way to expand understanding of how other students think and develop ideas, and it allows myself to see new ways to look at problems. While I'm not studying (or helping my friends study), I love to play music (piano, flute, guitar), take a walk through the forest preserve, draw, design/sew clothing, chat with friends, etc. I look forward to contributing to students' learning endeavors!

I am currently a Registered Nurse and MSN candidate. I am currently enrolled in a Dual FNP + Nurse Educator program. I have experience in Medical-Surgical, Surgical-Trauma Critical Care, and Medical Appeals/Quality Assurance/UR.While in nursing school, I was a peer tutor and truly loved helping others succeed. I have decided that I would love to continue this by going to grad school for Nurse Education. I graduated with honors and got all A's and B's while in nursing school. I found a great way to organize my lectures into study guides. I am currently enrolled in a Nurse Educator program and student teach as part of my courses. Currently, we are hybrid and I assist in the virtual aspect of the course. I would love to pass on my knowledge and passion for nursing to those who need help.I would also love to help any high school or middle school students that require assistance in my qualified areas. As a nurse, anatomy/physiology is something that I feel like I am nearly an expert in. I did very well in Pharmacology earning high scores on all exams and recognition from my nursing instructor. I also have a strong background in medical-surgical and complex medical populations. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and truly enjoy learning about human nature.I passed the NCLEX in less than 40 minutes with 75 questions. I studied very hard. I have learned how to read the question in order to ELIMINATE the answers. That is the KEY to NCLEX! And learning how to read what the question is ACTUALLY asking you. But more about that later.I would love to help you not only study, but get organized and stay on track! With my help, you should be able to pass your courses and move forward every semester! :)

I received my PhD in Physics from Brandeis University with a focus in computational and theoretical biophysics. I know that STEM classes can be intimidating to many. Every student has their own way of learning. My job is to figure out how my students learn and work within that framework to demystify these subjects. Everyone starts life as a scientist, questioning everything in their environment, and my goal is to bring my students back to their inherent inquisitive nature. In my spare time I enjoy playing board games with friends, experimenting in the kitchen, and amateur blacksmithing.

I am a Biology student at The University of Texas at Dallas. I recently took Calculus 1, and have experience tutoring SAT Math, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. The concepts from these subjects are fresh in my mind, and I would love to help other students succeed as well! I strive to prepare and support students in the most beneficial way possible. From test prep to college application essays, I am ready to help students get the most out of their tutoring. As a science major in college, I am also open to tutoring students needing help in General Chemistry. I have been tutoring students since high school, as I helped run a community program called Homework Help. Since then, tutoring quickly became a passion of mine. Every student learns in different ways, and I aim to help students understand concepts in their learning style with organization and patience. It is my pleasure to help students reach their highest potential and to guide them in the process of achieving their goal.

I am a PhD candidate in Atmospheric Sciences at Purdue University on track to finish in 2023. My research focuses on severe thunderstorms, weather radar, and tornadoes. I have completed a Masters degree in Atmospheric Sciences from Purdue University in 2018, and Bachelors degrees in Atmospheric Sciences and Math from Northern Vermont University- Lyndon in 2016. I have routinely tutored students throughout high school and college in both individual and group settings. Additionally I have tutored students for one time drop in sessions and recurring sessions.I have the most experience tutoring for math courses ranging from basic math to calculus. I have also tutored some basic physics courses, and meteorology courses. My tutoring style is casual and collaborative with the student. I like to work a problem or problem set with students to gauge how they approach problems and identify what issue they are having and then work with them to find a strategy.I enjoy tutoring and helping students because during my education I benefitted from working with teachers and professors one-on-one or in smaller groups. I was lucky to go to a small undergraduate school where students could get that attention. I also enjoying seeing students improve and reach their goals.

AP English Language and Composition Tutor • +15 Subjects

I am currently an adjunct professor at a private college in Boston where I teach English - both Literature and Composition - as well as several courses in the Humanities, including Art History. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I very much enjoy meeting with my students during office hours where I have the opportunity to work individually with anyone seeking extra help. During a typical meeting I spend as much time listening as instructing. My goal is to help a student gain greater understanding of the material but just as importantly to help build confidence through practice and instruction that is customized to meet a particular student's needs. I think the best tutoring session occurs when there is a give-and-take of questions, responses and recommended solutions: maintaining a dialogue is vital. I find it very rewarding when I observe one of my students improve in an area that was originally daunting, whether that involves revising ideas in a paper, mastering material for an upcoming exam, proofreading a final draft, or gaining the confidence to join in the next class discussion. My favorite areas are Writing, (anything from the fundamentals to research essays) Literature, Art History and Drama. In my spare time I enjoy reading short stories and novels, watching plays - live performances whenever possible - and rooting for the Red Sox!
