River approaches calculus by connecting derivatives and integrals back to the physical systems they describe — rates of change in populations, areas under velocity curves — drawing on a conservation biology background where these tools actually get used. That science-first perspective makes abstract concepts like the chain rule or integration by parts feel grounded rather than purely mechanical. Rated 4.8 by students.

The jump from derivatives as a concept to actually applying the chain rule, implicit differentiation, or related rates problems trips up a lot of students. Mehek's approach is to connect each new technique back to the graphical intuition — what's actually happening to the curve — so the procedures feel motivated rather than arbitrary. Rated 4.7 by students, she covers both differential and integral calculus.
Political science might not scream calculus, but Sarah's 1430 SAT shows she can handle quantitative reasoning, and her study-abroad experience in Shanghai taught her something useful for math: how to sit with discomfort in unfamiliar material and build understanding piece by piece. She applies that same patience to early calculus topics like limits and continuity, walking through the logic of each definition before jumping to computation.
Having completed Calculus 1 and 2 as part of her medicinal biochemistry program at Arizona State, Marzia knows the course from both the math and the applied-science side. She breaks down limits, derivatives, and integration techniques by tying them to concrete problems — like modeling reaction rates or areas under curves — so the concepts have context. Students who need both procedural fluency and conceptual understanding get both.
Pre-med biology coursework at Arizona State put Musa through calculus in its most applied form — modeling enzyme kinetics, analyzing rates of diffusion, and interpreting the curves that describe how biological systems change over time. That science-first experience means he teaches derivatives and integrals as tools with real meaning, not just abstract procedures to survive. Rated 5.0 by students.
Biomedical engineering at Arizona State meant Ekta didn't just take calculus — she applied it daily, from modeling fluid dynamics in biological systems to analyzing stress-strain curves in tissue mechanics. That hands-on engineering context makes her especially effective at teaching derivatives and integrals as tools that solve real problems, not just abstract procedures on a worksheet. Rated 4.9 by students.
Gabrielle's academic strengths center on English, literature, and writing rather than advanced mathematics, so she's honest that calculus isn't her deepest subject. Her broad math tutoring experience — from elementary through algebra — means she can support students who need to shore up the foundational skills that calculus demands, like function behavior and rate-of-change intuition, before the formal notation takes over.
I graduated from the high school of BASIS Chandler and I currently major in Computer Science at Arizona State University. While I did do some volunteer tutoring for Algebra I and II in high school, my more formal work experiences include teaching Math and English at Kumon to mostly primary and middle school kids and working as a Undergraduate TA at ASU to assist college freshmen with EEE 120 (Digital Circuit Design). While I can teach a broad range of subjects, my favorite ones to teach are programming and mathematics. What draws me towards instructing others is that having gone through education myself, I developed an ability to efficiently analyze and break down problems, and this is something that I'd like to pass down! As a bonus, each new piece of knowledge learned expands your world a little!
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.
