For the last twenty years I have worked with youth ages 3-18 years old in school, camp and volunteer work settings. For the past sixteen months I have taught 3,500 online classes to international students. I tutor a broad range of subjects. I believe that every student is capable of growth and improvement.

I am currently a 3rd year Doctor of Physical Therapy student at Rockhurst University. I obtained my Bachelors in Health Sciences from the University of Missouri - Columbia (Mizzou). During my time at Mizzou, I was a preschool tutor for 2 years through a program called Jumpstart. The primary focus of this program was to teach children preparing for kindergarten how to read. In addition, I edited papers for undergraduate peers at the university level, as well as tutored classmates on subjects, such as Anatomy. After graduation, I was an assistant preschool teacher for 1 year, where I helped children learn their letters, numbers, how to spell their name, as well as many other skill sets. After being accepted into graduate school, I continue to edit papers and group projects, as well as help my peers study for our upcoming exams. I am extremely organized and like to share my tips and tricks with those seeking help in organizing their class work. I have also been told I have "the patience of a saint" on more than one occasion, and I would also describe myself as friendly, reliable, and kind. I look forward to working with students to help them excel academically!

I am passionate about working with Elementary and Middle School students and particularly enjoy tutoring Math and Spanish. I believe in the importance of tailoring tutoring styles to fit the needs and learning styles of my students.

I hold a BA in Liberal Studies from Florida College and an MA in English from Texas A&M University. After graduating, I taught college English full-time for 5 years before taking a hiatus when my son was born. I now pursue my love for English and teaching by essay grading for the SAT and tutoring students.I'm passionate about sharing what inspires me. I get excited about literature and writing (even grammar!), and enjoy figuring out how to transfer that excitement to students. My professional development over the past decade has revolved around two distinctive yet overlapping fields of pursuit. I have worked consistently as an educator, particularly in language arts, writing, and literature. Along with teaching, I am also a freelance editor and consultant, primarily for people working in higher education. I collaborate with educators on their academic writing; most often academic texts and research books and articles.This work allows me to utilize my talent and passion for language and literature, as well as my passion for education. As an editor, I help enable esteemed scholars and academics craft their written work to make their specialized knowledge available and accessible to educators and students. Some of my past collaborative efforts have resulted in the successful publication of scholarly articles, books, textbooks, dissertations, collections of plays, essays, translations, and short stories. My most recent collaborative project was nominated for a literary award for outstanding translation of contemporary Russian fiction.I received a BA in French and English from Indiana University in 2007, and graduated on the Dean's list with honors, and won the prestigious Quinten B. Hope award for excellence in French Language Studies. I studied one year at the University of Provence, in Aix-en-Provence, France. I am a fluent French speaker, interpreter, translator, and writer in French. I also have taught French and English in schools, camps, and tutoring sessions. I studied Rehabilitation Counseling at Hunter College in graduate school, and hope to continue my studies in education and one day soon be a public school teacher.I love working with children, and there is nothing else that gives me a greater sense of fulfillment. I have worked with children of all ages from infancy to adolescence as an advocate, instructor and counselor. I have worked as a yoga instructor, camp counselor, language instructor, soccer coach and assistant teacher of art. I have supervised and created classes designed specifically for children with special needs and learning disabilities. I also have had the opportunity to work for the Time In Arts Initiative. Time In is a grant-funded outreach program working to provide enrichment through arts to Pre-K students who attend underserved and struggling public schools in the Bronx and Manhattan. At Time In I was able to combine my interests by working both as an assistant art instructor and grant writer for the program.I believe that the role of an educator is to identify ways to make information accessible to every student. I want to instill in every student the confidence to ask questions and seek information. I believe that encouraging curiosity is what allows for successful learning.

My collective experiences and insatiable desire for success always lead me to find students who want the same thing.

I've been a classroom teacher for the last 12 years. Although I studied engineering, I'm well versed in creative writing. I've worked Elementary, middle. and high school. I'm currently a writing teacher at a Middle school. I'm a published writer, spoken word artist, and playwright.
