I am a great teacher with over 8 years teaching experience teaching children from Grades K through 12. I received my B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. and a certificate in Special Education from the Hudson County Schools of Technology in North Bergen, New Jersey. I worked as a tutor for the State Tutoring Program in Arizona from 2013 to 2016. From the academic year of 2016 to 2017, I worked as a Substitute Teacher with Kelly Educational Services teaching Mathematics and English to elementary kids at the Roosevelt School district in Phoenix, Arizona.

I am in the midst of the medical school admissions process, but hopefully, it will conclude soon. I have a comprehensive understanding of subjects ranging from the social sciences to math. As a tutor, I want to instill confidence into my students. I want them to not only material itself, but I also want my students to find the best learning methods to be successful in their academic work and beyond.
I am more passionate about the latter, and within the humanities I am most passionate about philosophy and English. The most important thing I've learned from those two fields (and the thing I'd most want to pass on to students) is how to find the right words for thoughts - this is important, not just because it allows people to express themselves well to others, but also because it affords clarity to people regarding their own opinions and ideas. Shortly after I graduated from college I embarked on an extended trip around Europe lasting from October 2017 to May 2018. My interests include traveling, piano, and reading.
I am currently in the process of applying to Law School. I have tutored middle school and high school students in subjects ranging from 5th grade reading to geometry to the SAT. While I am happy and able to tutor a number of subjects, I am most passionate about Test Prep because these scores are very important to students, and I enjoy helping them to conquer the test and succeed. My teaching philosophy can be described as a coaching style in which, like athletics, I believe learning the subject matter, good techniques, and constant practice are the best ways to achieving better scores.
I'm not teaching biology to undergraduate majors at ASU, I research topics in aquatic ecology. Understanding the connectedness and patterns of environmental processes in aquatic ecosystems drives my passion to become an ecologist!
I'm Liz! I'm so excited to help my students reach their academic goals. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Government and Performance and Communication Arts, and a Master's Degree in Chinese Politics. With a long academic career and lots of experience with standardized tests, I'm ready help prepare my students for their next steps and help them succeed and build confidence where they are now. I can't wait to meet you!
I am especially committed to supporting first-generation college students, those for whom English is a second language, and working adults as they navigate the challenges of higher ed. Nevertheless, I have taught and mentored graduate students at Harvard and talented undergrads in a variety of disciplines and welcome helping with theses. In addition to teaching, I have a background in publishing and editing, and have been a writer since childhood. Language creates reality, and interpreting and using it well opens many doors. I delight to see students realize their capacities and expand their universe.
I am a graduate of Harvard University. I received a dual Bachelor of Arts in Astrophysics and Earth & Planetary Science. After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked full-time as a post-baccalaureate researcher at Columbia University's Astrophysics Laboratory in New York City. Currently, I'm working toward a PhD in Exploration Systems Design at Arizona State University. I first starting tutoring in high school and have continued for nearly a decade since. I have tutored many students across all levels of mathematics from the elementary to the undergraduate level. Additionally, I have tutored several students in astronomy at the undergraduate level. Calculus is my favorite topic to tutor, as I find the concepts to be incredibly fun to both learn and teach. In addition to tutoring, I also worked as a multivariable calculus teaching assistant for the Harvard Mathematics Department. I firmly believe that anyone can learn math. There's no such things as a "math person." It's just a matter of finding the right teacher. Outside of my academic pursuits, I also enjoy flying single-engine airplanes, writing screenplays, playing a relaxing game of golf, and training in martial arts.
I am always in the search for knowledge; I love learning new things and I love sharing that which I have learned. I believe there is power in the ability to speak a second or even a third language, and in the same way that I would like to learn more languages I believe it is only fair to help others learn them as well.
I am an Arizona native. Upon graduating from Desert Mountain High School, I attended Rice University and I received my Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology with a business focus. At Rice I was a student/athlete representing the Division I Owls in track and field. After several years experience voluntarily tutoring friends and family members I became a professional private tutor my junior year of college. My senior year, I took advantage of the opportunity to reach more students, creating a small private tutoring company in Houston in which I served as lead tutor and conducted all business operations. After graduating from college, I moved back to Arizona and am excited to have the opportunity to continue my passion of helping young men and women achieve academic excellence through tutoring. I have experience tutoring elementary through college-aged students in all academic disciplines. My primary areas of focus include: math, English, and standardized test prep. In my spare time I enjoy exercising, following sports, and spending time with friends and family.
I am a great tutor because I am young and enthusiastic. I can relate to the kids I tutor because I recently experienced the classes and standardized tests that they are taking. I use an informal style so that the student can feel comfortable asking questions. I try to connect personally to the students so that they have fun and look forward to tutoring. I tutor standardized tests and most high school classes. I have two years of experience tutoring and I spent both this summer and last summer teaching full-time.
I am interested in bettering your educational experience in the Life Sciences, Chemistry, and Math! If you or your child is struggling with math or science courses or, perhaps, is preparing for a standardized test that requires application knowledge in these areas then I may be the guy for you! I am also interested in tutoring individuals who are working towards acceptance into a professional school that might have been out of school for a while.

Casa Grande's average student-teacher ratio of 24.4:1 means many students benefit from individualized attention that classroom instruction alone can't always provide. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction allows tutors to focus entirely on a student's specific learning gaps, learning style, and pace—filling in gaps and building confidence in ways that larger classroom settings can't match.
Tutors work with students to master Arizona's academic standards across math, English language arts, science, and social studies. Whether a student is working toward grade-level proficiency, preparing for AIMS assessments, or getting ahead, personalized instruction ensures they understand key concepts and can apply them—not just memorize for tests.
The first session is about getting to know your student—their strengths, challenges, learning style, and goals. The tutor will assess where they stand academically, understand what they need help with, and create a personalized plan moving forward. This foundation helps ensure every future session is targeted and effective.
Tutoring costs vary based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions. Varsity Tutors works with families to find options that fit their budget and schedule. We recommend contacting us directly to discuss your student's needs and get a personalized quote.

Results vary by student, but many see improved grades, stronger test scores, increased confidence, and a deeper understanding of challenging subjects. The key is consistent, personalized instruction tailored to each student's needs—which is what 1-on-1 tutoring provides that classroom instruction alone often can't.
