I received my BA from Wesleyan University in 2020 with Honors in Philosophy and Phi Beta Kappa. I spent one year abroad studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford University. Having met stages one and two of Wesleyan's general education requirements, I have excelled in humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences so am able to provide assistance in a wide variety of subjects.Having peer-reviewed many papers in university, I am especially adept at workshopping essays in various departments (including philosophy, literature, psychology, history, and sociology). I also have experience tutoring high school math (geometry, algebra, pre-calculus) and am willing to tutor younger students as well.I am highly adaptable to the needs of the student and am quite good at adapting my style and vocabulary to who I am interacting with. Ultimately, my goal is to have the student be able to teach the material to me in a cogent manner. I accomplish this in part by asking the right questions rather than simply giving answers. I have experience working with non-native English speakers so have grown accustomed to speaking in ways that others can understand.Outside of academia I enjoy reading books, watching films, singing, playing the piano and guitar, getting exercise, and going to Maine. I am a sophomore at the University of Texas at San Antonio who is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Liberal and Fine arts with a focus in Psychology, specializing in abnormal behaviors. I was entered into a program in high school which allowed upperclassmen to tutor underclassmen in areas that we did well in. I also am hoping to become an SI, or Supplemental Instructor, in classes such as Psychology and History at my college. While comfortable teaching a large number of subjects, History, Psychology, Writing, Reading, and Geography are of my most superior subjects. The only thing I enjoy more than teaching, is learning, and I hope to instill that same thirst for knowledge in my students with my methods of teaching. As the first of my family to attend college, I am a personification of how education can better an individual, and those around them. Hi, I'm Abby! I am a Behavioral Neuroscience Master's candidate at the University of Missouri- St. Louis where I work as a research assistant and a teaching assistant for the psychology department. Previously, I have had experience tutoring science and math courses for both peers and younger students, as well as experience working in the medical device industry and genetic editing field. These jobs made me want to pursue a higher degree and really apply my research interests. I plan on getting a Ph.D. to become a professor at a university where I can teach and continue researching. I am a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology. I have my Bachelors of Science in Psychology with Minors in Business Management and Health & Medical Sciences. I am a graduate of The College of William and Mary. Since graduation, I began working as a healthcare consultant in New York City. Although I love my job, I miss working with children. I've been teaching dance since I was 13 years old, and teaching has been a big part of my life ever since. My favorite age group to teach dance to was 5-10 year olds and I would love that opportunity to work with kids again. Hi everyone! I just completed my Master's degree at Harvard Graduate School of Education where I studied education policy and analysis. I attended undergrad at Providence College in the Liberal Arts Honors Program where I double majored in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Women's and Gender Studies. I love working with kids and have experience teaching students in elementary school as well as tutoring students in middle school and high school. I am passionate about helping students achieve their highest potential while giving them the space to feel comfortable asking questions and challenging their thinking.

I am a recent graduate from Becker College in Worcester with a B.A. in Interactive Media Design. I have previous experience tutoring middle school students for a public school system, as well as, experience teaching game design to ages 10-17 at a computer camp this past summer. My favorite thing to teach is game design because that is what I am most passionate about but I also enjoy teaching in general. I find it very rewarding to teach and help students learn, especially, when it is a subject they are not comfortable with. This is due to many students thinking that they are just unable to learn a subject that they struggle with but I believe anyone can learn anything if they have the desire and the are committed to work at it. Outside of teaching I enjoy playing games of all types, such as video games and bowling, and spending time with friends and family.

I am a recently returned Peace Corps Volunteer; I spent over a year working in a small school in Namibia (Southern Africa) teaching English, Math, and Computer Skills in a resource-poor environment. I am enthusiastic and creative, and am constantly scanning the latest pedagogical literature to keep abreast of current teaching theories. My strengths lie in verbal expression, although I have a background in science (especially biology) as well. My specialty is helping to improve language/reading scores and writing/editing skills, as my perfect scores in the verbal portions of the SAT and the GRE demonstrate. I have lived/studied in France for a year, and am extremely proficient in the language.
