Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the reading comprehension score. We worked on reading the passage carefully and not assuming what the passage covers based on previous materials read in school. The student has a concept of the main idea and needs to trust his instinct."
"We covered testing strategies and selected practice problems from each section. This is only the second session, so no appreciable progress is expected at this point, but the student excelled in math. I recommended that the student do problem sets before our next session."
"The student did 20 verbal (10 synonyms, 10 analogies), 2 reading passages, and 15 math practice problems during this session."
"The student and I reviewed the first half of his vocab list, and he did well in remembering definitions. We spent some time on slope equation problems, getting practice in on the various different formats for such problems. He seemed to get the hang of it after a few, and now he should be well-positioned to answer problems like those on the test. We ended by going over reading comprehension practice. He will do a practice test this week as well as finish reviewing the core 75 vocabulary word sheet he has downloaded on his desktop."
"The student and I scored a practice test that he had completed for homework, and he is already showing an improvement to the 80th percentile in the math section. After we went over his errors, I created additional practice problems on the areas indicated by the test. Finally, when he was feeling fairly confident in the math, we began to go over some techniques for the analogies that I expect will bring his score in this area up significantly. He did great!"
"The student and I spent the lesson completing the math and verbal sections of an SSAT test together. She did very well on the first math section and the verbal section."
