Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on percentages, ratios, and unit conversions. More specifically, we covered converting decimal numbers to percentages and vice versa, interpreting distances on maps, and using scale models."
"We reviewed for Unit 3 Test, including solving and graphing equations and inequalities. The student was very focused and asked good questions."
"The student and I went over how to create equations from word problems and how to solve those equations for the missing number. We also discussed the elements of poetry and analyzed an extended metaphor in a poem."
"We covered simplification of polynomials, as well as solving for a given variable in inequality functions. The student participated heartily and showed real enthusiasm and interest in solving the problems. I gave him a few tips that should be helpful when dealing with the problems we worked with. After several examples, I believe he has become more familiar with how to solve the problems, and has improved mastery."
"The student had a number of papers she needed help with this evening. We reviewed simplifying algebraic phrases, equations, and inequalities. We covered the concept of isolating the variables to solve the equation. She was able to grasp the ideas and apply them to her practice problems. She did well and is preparing for her next math test."
"Today, we went over the student's progress reports and tried to organize his missing work. We spent about half of the session double-checking his teacher's websites for assignments, filling out his planner, and discussing a plan for getting caught up in his different subjects. He knows that he needs to make time to meet with his math teacher, and sort out which assignments he has not done, and which he has completed and not turned in. He spent the rest of the session working on missing math worksheets. He worked pretty diligently on some multi-step equations, and I'm proud of him for not getting discouraged at how many steps it took to solve each problem. He did a good job."
