Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we reviewed chapters 9 and 13 briefly, as the student took notes on her own. Then we went over the notes I typed up for chapters 5, 10, and 11. We reviewed chapter 7 together and covered any questions that came about from the other chapters. She seemed to grasp the concepts well, and only had a few questions regarding certain wording the book used. She has practice problems for the section to practice and reinforce concepts."
"Today, we reviewed what we have been working on as a refresher with a week off. Then we finished up rotations by working on rotations about a point. We came up with strategies for success, and did practice problems."
"Today, we switched to circle geometry. We went over an introduction of circles and the basic terms used with circles. We then went over inscribed polygons in circles, and how to solve for arc lengths and chord lengths. I also went over properties of tangent lines to circles. I assigned the student problems to do before our next session. She just needs more practice to solve problems faster, without errors."
"Today, we talked more about evaluating special angles within the unit circle and triangles. We learned about reciprocal functions and how they are related to trig. Finally, we started the law of sines and worked through a problem solving for an unknown side length. Next session, we will continue with the law of sines and talk about the law of cosines."
"Today, we used a geometry review book to focus on circles. We went over the terms of a circle as well as how to calculate circumference and area. The student had trouble remembering when to use which formula, so we did several examples until she was more confident with circles."
"Today, we went over a pretest in a new book. The book is on Algebra II, which is what the student will be taking in the fall. In the pretest, he was able to do the problems we looked at so far, but he could be better at factoring. Completely factoring was new to him, so I showed him how it works. He understood the basic concept of distribution."
