I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2019 with a Bachelors of Science in Biomedical sciences and a minor in Neuroscience. Because my background and future goals are predominately math and science related, I feel I have a strong handle on these subjects. I have always loved math so when I went to college, a degree in engineering seemed like the perfect choice. After college I worked in the aerospace industry for 10 years as a systems engineer on several satellite programs. Although I enjoyed my job, I wanted to spend more time with my family. It was then that I discovered I absolutely love working with students. I became a part-time math teacher in a small private school, teaching everything from Algebra II to Calculus III. I love showing students different ways to approach a problem that helps them understand it. Helping them succeed is so exciting!

Growing up in Houston, I left home after freshman year of high school to attend the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science, from where I graduated high school early with two years of college credits.While I tutor many subjects, math and science are easily my favorites. I have always enjoyed tutoring others because it allows me to contribute to one's success. Since the beginning of middle school, I've worked with students from sixth grade to college. She grew up in Maryland in the DC Metro Area for most of her life, with a brief 3-year stint in Tuscaloosa, AL. Nailah has always loved working with students and teaching them the skills they need to succeed. Through the Peace by PEACE program, she taught weekly non-violent conflict resolution classes to sixth graders at John Martinez Middle School. As the Education intern at the global non-profit Youth Service America, she created educational resources designed to teach youth how to create their own service projects and led a workshop on these tools for visiting international students. Through Yale's Reach Out Program, Nailah traveled to Jamaica with a group of fellow students to lead community-center workshops for teenagers on health, domestic abuse, economic development and leadership skills. Nailah knows how important education has been in her life, in not only providing her with opportunities to explore the world and think deeply, but also by providing her life-long mentors. Some of the educators that first inspired her were from a performing arts camp called Acting Manitou that she attended for four summers as a camper. She later returned to continue empowering the next generation of campers as a camp counselor. Nailah is also an aspiring director and storyteller, and works part time at a start-up called Harry's.
