I graduated from Columbia University in 2011 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. I was always a straight-A student,\ but needed help when it came to standardized testing for college admission, especially the verbal sections. I attended two years of prep school and eventually obtained a 2200. My biggest takeaway was the way I learn and retain information. I believe what makes me unique as a teacher is that I take the time to understand the needs of my students, work with them to come with a learning strategy that works for them, and create a measurable objective to work towards. The most daunting goal can be obtained with the right planning and cooperation. By showing the students that I am willing to work hard, I believe it motivates them to try just as hard.

I am in the process of transitioning careers from an attorney to a high school social studies teacher. I plan to start teaching in the fall. I have a rich background in a rigorous liberal arts education thatwould enable me to tutor in a diverse range of subjects, as well as guide students to think more critically, read more closely, and write more crisply and powerfully. My legal education and experience have further enhanced these skills.
