I have a PhD (Yale) in history and an MBA (UCLA) in finance. I have excellent writing and research skills, and have made extensive use of German and French -- spoken and for research. My work in finance has required skills with mathematics. I have taught university classes in finance and international economics. Another area of much interest, related to my background in history and public policy, is US constitutional law. I published a book on monetary history (*Gold, France, and the Great Depression*) , and a more recent book of essays on topics in economics and diplomatic history (http://books.ksplibrary.org/978-625-7501-75-0/ ) .... I have worked extensively on government-related projects, often in the greater Middle East. Effective tutoring should do more than impart techniques -- it should certainly do that -- it should help a student come away with some interest in and enthusiasm for the topic. (Soft evidence for the last is that my daughter earned a PhD in neuro-science, and credits me with inspiring her.)

I've been a university professor for the past five years and have been tutoring for as long as I can remember. I began tutoring informally while I was still in high school, helping friends get ready for their SATs, helping them with assignments. I realized quickly that I was suddenly helping half of my school so I decided to make some fliers, and some money, and offer my tutoring to anyone and everyone in my hometown. Suffice to say, some odd years have gone by since then and now, even as a full-time professor, I find myself enjoying the experience of tutoring and helping students on an individual level enough to continue doing it. With a background in the sciences and mathematics, and a graduate degree in philosophy I'm incredibly well-rounded in terms of what I'm capable of teaching and moreover, have a generally positive pedagogical approach to everything; I really do love teaching. Even fields in which I have little experience become a contest with myself to master solely for the sake of helping a student. I have extensive experience in reading, writing, and editing (I've been published several times over as both head author and editor) and its something that I truly love to do. I currently hold three Undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Physics, and Linguistics, as well as two Graduate degrees in Philosophy and Theology. I'm an attorney, Ph.D. student, and aspiring law professor. I am working on my dissertation for my Ph.D. in Law at Yale, having previously earned my J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. I practiced for three years at a large law firm in Washington, D.C., primarily representing television stations. I also speak German, having learned it as a high school exchange student, majored in it in college, and having spent a summer working in a Berlin law office. As much as I love the law--and I really do!--I also love teaching. I recently spent a semester teaching as an Adjunct Professor of Law at a law school; that experience confirmed for me that teaching is what I was meant to do. I have had numerous other teaching and tutoring experiences, including working for my university's tutoring service as an undergraduate student and later working for my law school as a tutor.
