Geometry Tutoring review by Emily in Park Forest, IL
During this session, we prepared for her geometry midterm this week. We got through her entire study guide, spending most of our time reviewing the characteristics of various polygons, logic proofs, truth tables, and indirect proofs. We went over different types of triangles, including the rules for identifying side lengths of 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles. We also covered rhombuses, parallelograms, trapezoids, squares, and rectangles. For logic proofs, we reviewed the theorems and their meanings in the context of proofs, and for truth tables, we discussed the consequences of all of the different combinations of true and false under different circumstances. She had been a little confused about truth tables since she had largely tried to memorize the sequences, but after working through the reasoning behind certain combinations, she actually understood why each combination worked out the way it did. Finally, we reviewed indirect proofs, since she didn't feel as confident with those as with the other concepts. By the end, she felt quite confident. I left her with some pages to review in her textbook.

The student has a complete review packet covering the material that has been introduced during this semester. He has a test over the material in about 10 days. We began a systematic review of his geometry course, using the review packet. His attitude and aptitude were quite good.

Geometry Tutoring review by Neetu in Park Forest, IL
We studied quadrilateral properties: properties of the sides, angles, and diagonals of squares, rectangles, parallelograms and rhombuses, then used those properties to find the missing measurements. The student has a test next week so I will be sending her some practice problems too.

Geometry Tutoring review by Yemi in Park Forest, IL
We went over similarities in triangles and perimeter. We worked on using proportions to solve for the length of the similar triangle. We tried different examples where he also had to solve for x. Once I showed him what the proportions represent, he was able to apply it to other problems. He asked questions when he didn't understand something. And if something wasn't clear to him, I'd keep showing him different ways to approach the problem until he understood it. We ended the session with balancing chemical reactions from Chemistry. I showed him steps that he could follow to balance them correctly.
