Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington in 1991. I received my Bachelor of Arts in
Spanish literature and Culture Studies of Mesoamerican civilization and Secondary education. Since graduation, I have traveled extensively, teaching children at Howe Military Academy, Detroit Public schools, Fort Wayne Community schools and currently teaching at Broward County Public schools. I am available to help students improve their Spanish language skills (reading, writing,listening and speaking). I am certified in the State of Indiana and Florida as k-12 Spanish teacher. I also have my ESOL endorsement from Broward County Public schools. I tutor all levels of Spanish.I am very passionate about Spanish, Literature, and History. In addition, I believe that every student deserves and is capable of achieving success. I am passionate about preparing students for the globalized world that they will undoubtedly face as they grow to be adults. In planning my lessons, I incorporate the framework of 21st century teaching and learning that combines a discrete focus on 21st century student outcomes (a blending of specific skills, content knowledge, expertise and literacies) with innovative support systems to help students master the multi-dimensional abilities required of them in the 21st century. I use all technology that is available, giving my students important common technological skills. Language activities become part of their authentic learning experience, which engages them in the subject matter and teaches valuable real world skills. I am a firm believer that education is absolutely necessary to improve quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, swimming, movies, photography, urban exploration, scuba diving, soccer, polo, roller skating, backpacking, and gardening.
