The student and I spent the session once again working on sketching functions. As we had done a complete conceptual overview in our previous session, we simply spent this session working on example problems. I made up four or five polynomials of varying degrees and had him sketch them using the techniques we had previously discussed. After sketching each graph, we spent a few minutes going over the sketch to point out particularly interesting parts of the function and to ask how the sketch would change if slight changes were made to the function.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Steven in Portsmouth
The student was performing mathematics above average yesterday. Her arithmetic skills appear to have significantly improved and she has made great strides in her trigonometric abilities. She has an exam soon, so we reviewed the material as thoroughly as possible to prepare her. Particularly, she should make sure she has memorized which ratio to use when converting an angle from radians to degrees or vice versa, and the table of values for sine, cosine, tangent, and their respective reciprocal functions. I feel she is weakest with utilizing the arc length equation, and with this she should be careful when appropriating each value to their respective place in the formula and ensuring the angle is in the correct units. We'll work on that in our next session. Otherwise, she should be studying as well as ever with the other material. I am confident she will score well on this exam, as she should great effort and understanding during our session. I wish her good luck and I will see her next week.

The student was assigned homework for the evening on parabolas as conic sections. She seem to be able to work well and on her own when the topic and problem solving procedures were clearly explained to her. She completed the homework which consisted of ten problems.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Hetal in Portsmouth
The student understood the general concepts of trig, but continued to need help with putting ideas together. I went over proving trig identities with steps given to her and by making steps on her own. When it came to doing it all on her own, she did much better.
