My students have included special education, gifted, English Language Learners, music/arts students and students with disabilities. I have tutored math up to Calculus AP; English Writing, Reading Comprehension and College Essay instruction; Science through AP Physics; and test preparation for GRE, ACT, SAT as well as state-mandated tests in Illinois and Michigan. Finally, I majored in and am pursuing a Master's Degree in the field of social science. The Master's in Education program at Depaul is preparing me to teach students from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds at the secondary level.

Having been exposed to multiple teaching roles, I like to create a strong impact and an interactive approach towards teaching. I have taught a diverse age-group of foreign students. I also possess volunteer teaching experience for non-profit organizations, to children as part of a volunteer program. Having completed an undergraduate degree in Finance and Economics, I have a thorough understanding of quantitative techniques and statistical analysis. For 4 years, I was trained to think analytically, organize my thoughts systematically and simplify data and complex ideas. I have won Finance Case Competitions, tackled multiple case studies and challenging problems. My strengths lie in interpreting large amounts of data, identifying trends and presenting the big picture backed up by data. I have developed a strong base in SQL, Tableau, SPSS and Python from online courses, but more importantly from my Graduate program coursework. The Business Analytics graduate program at Arizona State University has helped build a foundation in these quantitative skills. It has also engendered creativity of thought and the ability to work in collaborative settings.I gained first-hand experience applying advanced statistical techniques in Excel.I want to transfer my knowledge and widen the vision of young minds that are aiming for success.

I am a graduate of Northern Illinois University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Economics/Business. I also earned my Masters & Doctorate degree in Biblical Studies, Midwest Bible College, Milwaukee. I'm author of 3 books dealing with leadership & Biblical faith principles. I am a former scholar MVP athlete and 4 year starting college quarterback and team captain. Since graduation, I have traveled the extensively, tutoring & teaching children and adults in subjects from writing, English, religion, and business courses. I am a motivator and encourager and enjoy working with anyone no matter the age. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and Religion. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, we always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements) prepping for the Critical Reading and Writing portions of the exams. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart these principles to all of my students to prepare them to be successful in their lives. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, exercising at the health club, which enriches my life, basketball, running, and regularly attending church services.

I started as a tutor in 1994 in Virginia. I enjoyed the work so much I moved to Thailand and taught English in Songkhla, a small town near the Malaysian border. That experience led me to many more international jobs. I've lived and worked overseas for over 10 years in Thailand, Hong Kong and London. At each stop along the way I've been privileged to be known as a reliable resource for those needing assistance with their English. Native speakers and ESL students alike. My approach is simple: I move at your pace until I'm confient you understand the material. Then a gentle push to the next level is applied. Using previous sessions as a foundation I focus on the fundamentals. I eschew tricks and gimmicks for getting to the right answer. You will know the answer, not arrive there via educated guessing.I am a seasoned financial services professional, and bring that professionalism and attention to detail to all my endeavors. We will apply ourselves and take full advantage or our time together. I am also a volunteer firefighter, and that spirit of service and helping others animates my tutoring style, too.I'm looking forward helping you improve your school work and increase your standardized test scores. I hope I can work with you to achieve your goals.

I graduated from Rutgers Business School in the top 15% of my class, with my degree in Economics and Accounting. I have always been an overachiever and throughout my studies, I have been a source of knowledge for my peers and have taken a genuine interest in their success. I like to tutor because I get a great sense of achievement in knowing that I am helping a student get a better understanding of difficult material.I can teach courses in business, such as accounting, finance, production management, etc., but I mostly enjoy teaching courses in economics, statistics, and math, because they are at the core of many business programs, and I think that it is very important to get a solid understanding of the basics before moving on to more advanced or technical courses. My overall goal is for students to better understand their coursework, but more importantly I want to teach students to think outside of the box, be better problem solvers, and enjoy the learning process.

While teaching 8th grade Math at a Baltimore City Public School, I had to meet my students at a wide range of Math abilities. Some students, who had fallen behind in previous years of Math instruction, had trouble with adding and subtracting. Conversely, some of my students were ready to explore each topic beyond what was prescribed in the 8th grade curriculum. This meant that I developed the ability to both reteach lower level skills, as well as push advanced students to higher levels of rigor. More broadly, I understand that Math can be incredibly frustrating, and I made it a point to be very clear in my instruction. I also believe that students will shut down if the instructor neglects to encourage them positively. Being positive and remaining calm helped my students during moments of frustration. I never ridiculed my students for lacking prior knowledge, rather, I worked hard to make them feel comfortable enough to share their math weaknesses with me, so we could move towards comprehension. I don't think all students learn the same way, therefore, explaining concepts using several methods is essential for those students who aren't getting it. For example, my visual learners benefited from learning addition and subtracting with negative numbers by utilizing a number line and different colored counter chips.I am currently seeking a Masters Degree in Economic Policy Analysis at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Through my teaching experience, and my current degree program, I enjoy tutoring Mathematics and both Micro and Macroeconomic topics. On the weekends, I referee youth soccer games in Maryland, and enjoy watch professional soccer games on TV. Soccer has been a passion of mine since childhood, and while I'm not as fast as I used to be, I play in an adult league and enjoy playing in an occasional pick up game. My undergraduate degree from Wheaton College (MA) was in Political Science, and I double minored in mathematics and Economics. I try to read the Baltimore Sun newspaper daily, as well as various news outlets on a wide variety of topics to stay current on world and local events. I enjoy listening to podcasts of political, economic and other interesting topics during my commute to my classes at UMBC. I have Graduate Research Assistantship at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, through my degree program at UMBC. I realize I listed some serious hobbies, but I promise I have a sense of humor too! When time permits, I enjoy watching the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, because it's important to laugh every day!

I was born in Russia and grew up in NYC where I attended Stuyvesant High School. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Binghamton University where I majored in mathematics and economics and completed a core group of science courses that were part of the Pre-Medical track. I am currently applying to medical school for admission next fall.I can offer assistance in mathematics, up to the differential equations level, as well as in microeconomics, macroeconomics, biology, chemistry and physics. I have taken advanced coursework in both math and economics and understand which skills and concepts are essential to develop early on in order to succeed in more advanced courses. I have had prior experience tutoring chess to students ranging from elementary school to high school. My grandma was a mathematics teacher back in Russia and her excitement and passion for mathematics helped foster my interest in math and science from an early age. I want to bring the same energy to not only improve my students' test scores but to build their appreciation for the subject matter as well.- Mikhail
