Ever since bringing refugee children up to and beyond grade-level mathematics while tutoring in the mid-2000s, I have always been motivated by a spirit of service to community, society, and humanity at large. Teaching and tutoring is one small but essential part of that ethos.

ACT Math Tutor • +12 Subjects

Hi! I'm Jasmine.I have had teaching experience at J. W. Eater Jr. High School in Rantoul, Illinois where I was an after-school tutor. I helped students with homework, and tutored them in basic subjects such as Math, Science, Language Arts and Social Studies. I have also worked with STEM students in Champaign-Urbana for academic outreach. We conducted renewable energy experiments with students and encouraged young students to pursue potential interests in the STEM field.I taught students that were at all different levels in their subjects. It was a valuable experience as I learned that not everyone learns the same way. Education is very personal and the younger students I taught had their own way of picking up concepts. It was something I had to learn in the process. Generally, I feel like this made me a better student because when working in groups, we need to understand each others dynamic and how we take in information. Knowing this ultimately leads to a more successful project.I also have leadership experience in multiple students organizations during my undergraduate career. I enjoy working in teams and collaborating with teammates. My work as an Assistant Researcher and the courses that I have completed so far and am currently enrolled in provide me with a strong understanding of the fundamentals of Civil Engineering. My leadership role in Engineering Council has helped me with time management and organizing various projects. Furthermore, The Universitys Steel Bridge Team has given me hands-on experience about bridge design and construction. It emphasized the importance of stability and inspection of constructed portions. With these experiences, I believe I have acquired the skills to be a good fit for this position. This opportunity would help facilitate a better understanding of my interests in this field, and develop my skill set as a pursuing engineer.

I have enjoyed tutoring math since I was sixteen years old and have never looked back. I have tutored the subjects Pre-Algebra Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, as well as the standardized tests PSAT Math, SAT Math, ACT Math, and GRE Quantitative Reasoning. I specialize in one on one settings, where I can get to know students and establish a connection with them. With that connection, I find it much easier to carefully explain concepts in multiple ways to ensure they understand the material. When I am driving to a tutoring session, I do not feel like I am going to work. I feel good knowing that I am doing something that I love to do. Tutoring math online is a personal favorite.

Hi Everyone!A little bit about me: I am from a suburb of Columbus, OH where I graduated highschool with over a 4.0, played soccer and lacrosse, and was heavily involved in peer collaboration, both in school and out of school, for students with disabilities. I went on to attend the University of Michigan where I graduated Honors in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Applied Statistics. During which time, I lead informal tutor and study groups for my peers in difficult courses such as microbiology, organic chemistry, and biostatistics, to name a few. Since graduating, I have moved back to my hometown where I worked as Data Analyst for roughly 8 months before changing paths and shifting back to medicine where I work now as a Medical Assistant for a local dermatology practice. I plan to get my Master's in Physician Assistant Studies in the new few years. As I mentioned above, I have a passion for helping those excel, where they may not feel the most confident. While my areas of strength are in math and science, I, myself, have struggled in other areas and have had to ask for help. So, I understand first-hand that everyone's learning techniques are different and, if a student is not understanding a concept while being taught one way, there needs to be a shift in methods to try and convey the message differently. I have informally taught many students over the years, and each one of them learned differently. What helped things "click" in one student's mind, was not quite the same as another's. I'd like to continue helping students find what "clicks" for them and excel in their troublesome area!

I currently work as a math tutor at Mathnasium: The Math Learning Center, where I've been for the past year and a half. I've also tutored German privately and had 9 years working in church youth programs. My education has been through American River College and Sierra College, with my current degree being an AS in Mathematics for Transfer.I love to be curious about everything and to spark curiosity in others through teaching. My goal is not just to have you understand something, but to be able to have fun with it, be able to sit down, play around with the pieces, and by doing that learn something new about it. Learning is exploring: as a tutor I see myself as a guide, my job is to get you excited about the topic so that you begin to ask questions and piece together the picture yourself. My interests include board games, video games, science fiction/fantasy, fiction writing, language, ballroom dance, and most anything having to do with science.

I attended the University of Tampa to attain a Bachelor's Degree in English and Communications. I then moved on to certified teaching of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to students of all ages. In continued onto graduate school at Hofstra University, where I graduated with a Master's Degree in Journalism, Public Relations and Media Studies. As aforementioned, I have worked with students of all ages on a variety of subject matter. I currently teach at an elementary school in Chuluota, FL. I have experience tutoring in areas such as reading, writing, literature and grammar and, as it is a passion of mine, I work hard to make it as enjoyable to the student as it is for myself! I love reading!I love teaching these subject areas, along with any other challenges brought onto me. I'm sure this is due to the fact that I am passionate about continual learning. As the phrase goes, you learn something new every day! As a teacher and tutor, you begin to realize that not only are you extending your knowledge to others, but gaining insight and perspective into how to interpret things through a different opinion or view.I am very up to date on pop culture and believe this is an incredibly important as a teacher, as correlating learning into every day entertainment is the best way to attain a student's full attention. After all, life skills are the most important to learn. Communication and relativity are the key to attain success!
