I am a great tutor, because I am able to craft and implement lesson plans designed for individual students, as well as facilitate group sessions. I have experience teaching Supplemental Instruction at Auburn University, where in addition to lecture materials, I provided study skills and academic success strategies to my students. I am a National Merit and National Hispanic Scholar, and I received a full Academic Presidential Scholarship plus stipends at Auburn. I consistently score well on standardized tests, and I am able to use and share my test-taking skills and strategies.

I am a graduate of New York University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with a focus on Process Engineering. Currently, I am working towards higher education degrees and starting my career as an Engineer. Helping others to learn and understand material has always been a passion of mine. Immersing myself in a rigorous Engineering curriculum, I found myself working closely with peers and classmates in understanding the subject material. During my time at New York University, I served as a tutor for the Tutoring Center at the School of Engineering working with individuals and groups from a variety of subjects corresponding to Engineering, such as mathematics, physics, life sciences, with a primary focus on Chemical sciences and Chemical Engineering coursework. As a part of the University outreach program, I had the opportunity to work with high school students and provide tutoring after school for local high schools in the area with respect to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects. I have a strong affinity for tutoring Math and Science materials. These subjects require strong problem solving skills. In my experience working with students in Standardized test preparation, we find the time spent on the Math portions to be the most enriching with results. T.H White once claimed 'Education is experience, and the essence of experience is self-reliance.' I hold similar values to T.H White with respect to the learning process. There is always something to learn, and the best way to accomplish this is to immerse one-self in the subject. Through continuous repetition and exposure, problem solving skills will be developed and we become more confident in handling the problems that we face. I also do not believe in the concept of failure, for mistakes we make can be used to learn and better ourselves. Outside of academia, I am a club soccer coach training and teaching the game to young children and adolescence. I enjoy keeping my brain and body active through puzzles, reading, exercise, and many sports specifically soccer and volleyball. I enjoy activities that induce progress, as I am always looking to better myself.

I am well prepared for the lecture. Before I step out of the classroom, I make sure that each student has understood the lecture to the best of his/her capacity. The ability to motivate students and stimulate their desire to learn is a critical quality of a talented teacher. Every student has different background, ability, and motivation. Identifying each student's need is essential for helping reach his/her potential. My teaching objective is to promote critical thinking, effective use of scientific information, asking relevant questions and approaching these questions in a methodological way, and working in a collaborative manner. To ease the learning process, it is essential to use multimedia and Internet resources as complementary tools for traditional blackboard and chalk teaching.

Frequently Asked Questions
IB Physics SL covers eight core topics: measurements and uncertainties, mechanics, thermal physics, waves, electricity and magnetism, circular motion and gravitation, atomic and quantum physics, and energy production. Additionally, students complete practical work and internal assessments that test both conceptual understanding and experimental design skills.
Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors experienced in the IB Physics SL curriculum who can assess your current progress, identify gaps, and create a personalized learning plan aligned with your school's pacing and your exam timeline.
Lab work is essential in IB Physics SL—it accounts for your internal assessment grade and develops critical scientific thinking skills required for the written exams. Students must design experiments, analyze data, evaluate uncertainties, and draw evidence-based conclusions. Many students struggle with the difference between following a procedure and truly understanding the physics behind the experiment.
Tutors can help you approach lab work strategically: understanding what physics principles you're testing, anticipating sources of error, and articulating your reasoning in the formal write-ups. This preparation strengthens both your internal assessment score and your conceptual understanding for the exams.
IB Physics SL heavily rewards conceptual understanding over memorization. The exam tests your ability to apply physics principles to unfamiliar scenarios, explain phenomena using underlying theory, and justify your reasoning—not just recall equations. Students who memorize without understanding often struggle when questions require them to manipulate formulas in new contexts or explain why a formula applies.
Personalized tutoring helps you build genuine understanding by connecting abstract concepts like fields, waves, and energy to concrete examples and real-world applications. Tutors focus on the 'why' behind each concept, which makes problem-solving more intuitive and exam performance more robust.
Common mistakes in IB Physics SL include unit conversion errors, misidentifying which principle applies to a problem, skipping steps in reasoning, and not clearly showing your working. The exam rewards transparent methodology, so even if your final answer is incorrect, partial credit depends on sound reasoning.
Tutors work with you on systematic problem-solving strategies: analyzing what information is given, identifying the relevant physics principle, setting up equations carefully, tracking units throughout, and checking whether your answer makes physical sense. Regular practice with feedback helps you catch patterns in your errors and build confidence in your approach.
Students often struggle most with mechanics (kinematics, forces, and energy), circular motion and gravitation, and quantum physics. These topics require visualizing abstract concepts—how forces interact, why orbital motion follows the patterns it does, or what 'quantized' energy actually means. Electricity and magnetism also challenge many students because the mathematical relationships can feel disconnected from physical intuition.
Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who excel at breaking down these conceptually dense areas. They use diagrams, analogies, and worked examples to help you visualize abstract ideas and build the mental models that make these topics click.
That depends on your current level and exam timeline. Students beginning tutoring 6-12 months before exams typically benefit from consistent weekly sessions focused on deepening understanding and tackling weak areas. As exams approach, many students intensify to biweekly or weekly sessions for targeted review, practice exam analysis, and confidence-building.
A tutor experienced in IB Physics SL can assess your strengths and weaknesses early on and recommend a timeline that lets you master foundational concepts before drilling harder problems. Starting early reduces last-minute cramming and allows time to develop the scientific reasoning skills the IB values.
The best IB Physics SL tutors combine deep subject expertise with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. They should understand the IB curriculum and exam format, be comfortable guiding experimental design and internal assessment work, and know how to help you build both conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. They should ask questions that push your thinking rather than simply providing answers.
When you connect with a tutor through Varsity Tutors, you're matched with someone experienced in IB Physics SL who can adapt their teaching to your learning style and timeline. Many students find that a tutor who asks 'Why do you think that?' rather than 'Here's the answer' transforms their understanding.
