I graduated from Caesar Rodney High School and became the 1st member of my immediate family to attend college when I decided to play football and major in Mathematics at the school that best suited my needs: Wesley College.Wesley's math program was small but filled with innovative professors and linked closely with an award winning chemical kinetic research department headed by renowned educator Dr. Malcolm D'Souza. The academic atmosphere encouraged constructive teamwork and helped me value virtuous collaboration and leadership skills. I studied applied and abstract mathematics while also learning pertinent information about the protocol for conducting research. The summer after my sophomore year I approached the chair of the mathematics department, Dr. Derald Wentzien, for permission to conduct an independent study about athletic participation in college. And in 2011, I begin researching Athletic Participation and itsTime Commitment as it Pertains to Academic Progress over the course of the fall semester while I lead the #3 ranked football team in Division III to our 3rd straight national semifinals appearance; the first time it had been done in its 141 year history. The following season I wrote The Art of Winning, a research study detailing the results of my findings, as well as the validity and implications of those results. I used my influence as a student-athlete, beat writer for the student newspaper The Whetstone, undergraduate researcher, and liaison for the Mathematics department to advocate for academic support and accommodations for underprivileged and underperforming students at Wesley College. I went on to accept a full scholarship to the University of Delaware's graduate education program and, in 2014, was hired by one of Delaware's most prestigious high schools, Cape Henlopen HS.I have spent the last 3 years executing rigorous versions of honors and college prep Statistics, Pre-Calculus, and Advanced Algebra. Now, I am ready to move on to the next chapter of my life.Feel free to contact me at erichgillespie93@gmail.com if you have any questions. All the best, Erich Gillespie Jr.

I am a junior studying Writing for Screen and Television at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. For the past two spring semesters I worked as a CollegeSpring Mentor, tutoring Green Dot Charter high school juniors for the SAT and teaching them predatory skills for college. In addition to my experience tutoring for the SAT, as a screenwriting major I most enjoy teaching my favorite subject, English. I love showing students the power language endows upon them to communicate their ideas and beliefs with others. I believe every student deserves the chance to succeed and to try to capitalize on their strengths while encouraging them to improve in areas they may traditionally find challenging. Endowing a student with confidence in themselves through patience and support is the best way not only to improve academic performance, but also transform them into lifelong learners. I try to share not only my passion for knowledge with students, but also my love of sports (football, baseball, and softball), action films, and global affairs. Seeing students not only improve academically but also show improved confidence and happiness is the most rewarding part of my job.

I graduated from UCSB with a BA in Physics. While i was in school I did some one-on-one tutoring for high school physics. I love math and science, and getting to share that passion with other students is a really rewarding experience. My strength as a tutor comes from my patience and listening skills. Everybody learns at a different pace, so I think it's important to be open and adaptable to best serve each student's unique needs. I encourage students to ask questions, and see wrong answers as an opportunity for constructive feedback. Ultimately, I want tutoring to be something exciting and engaging for students instead of a chore. In my free time I love drawing, painting, and spending time in nature.

I am a high honors, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of University of California, Santa Barbara. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature with a minor in French. During my time there, I studied abroad for a semester in Paris at the Sorbonne and the Paris Center for Critical Studies. I received the Certificate of Undergraduate Excellence in French and the Distinction in the Major award for my honors undergraduate research thesis in Comparative Literature, which was on the dynamics and representations of female transgression in the "stepwomen" of folk and fairy tales. I worked as a Writing tutor at U.C.S.B., first tutoring English to ESL foreign exchange students at the university, and then went on to work on basic study skills, writing, and essay planning and writing with undergraduates from all majors and disciplines, while also advising a few PhD candidates on their thesis writing. Since graduation, I have held multiple writing and editing positions, including my positions as Deputy Fiction Editor at the Los Angeles Review of Books and Associate Editor at Phoneme Media, a Los Angeles-based world literature and translation publisher.I am a skilled academic writer and lover of literature, and I am most passionate about tutoring English, Literature, English study skills, and Essay Writing (for both academic papers and college entrance personal statements). Not only do I believe that every student has the ability to write an essay, I believe every student has the ability to write a great one. I work to open up the blocks between students and language, changing their relationship to English and writing for the better and for the long-term...so that perhaps a tutor won't be so necessary in the future! In my spare time, I am a vegetarian and vegan cook, a runner, a soccer player, a creative writer, and an addictive reader. I love music of all kinds, was trained in jazz vocals, and love to see the worlds of music, art, language, and academics intersect. Confidence in language and writing has the ability to open all kinds of doors to students both academically and professionally, and I hope to help unlock them.

Hi there! I'm Arian. I graduated from Wesleyan University with degrees in English and Environmental Studies, with a focus on creative writing. For my senior thesis, I wrote a 50-page epic poem that intertwined the geobiological evolution of the earth with my family history.I've been tutoring intermittently since my freshman year of high school--from one-on-one, subject-specific tutoring to coaching my high school speech team to teaching saxophone lessons at an arts center to leading writing workshops for disenfranchised boys at the Juvenile Detention Center near my university.I believe that anyone can learn anything as long they approach it from the ground up. As such, I strive to ensure students understand material at a foundational and conceptual level before advancing into specifics. Furthermore, I believe the learning process should be as exciting and collaborative as possible, and that each lesson should be tailored to a student's particular learning styles and needs.Bottom line, I love working with people and helping them grasp intimidating concepts. Learning should be exhilarating, and I always try to facilitate that thrill. I welcome feedback from my students and their parents, because I want to be the best tutor I can be for each individual I'm working with. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or to schedule a lesson.

I'm a New York transplant to LA, and a freelance composer and musician by nature. I am an artist and a teacher-- these are my two passions! I'm also a translator, linguistics nerd, avid reader, and fabulous teacher. I went to NYU and studied Linguistics, and am continuing my studies for an Applied Linguistics Masters here in California.I have been teaching and tutoring for many years, since I started college. I've done private SAT Prep tutoring both here and in New York, as well as prep for other standardized tests such as the ISEE, SSAT, and HSPT. I also teach a bi-weekly SAT Prep course in Glendale, and an advanced Competition Math class for two age groups (6-8 and 9-12). It's a lot of fun! I've always found math pretty neat and like to get students interested in it too!I love to travel and have been fortunate enough to do a lot of it during my quarter-century on this planetRussia, all over Europe, the Middle East, Venezuela, Mexico, India, and pretty much every state in this country. You only live once, and I really do learn something new every day.Of all the jobs I've had while pursuing music and art, I've found that teaching is the one in which I have the most to offer and that gives me the most in return. I believe that confidence is the largest factor in success at anything, and preparation leads to confidence. This applies to the SAT test; it applies to performing a concert; it is universal. I want to help build confidence in others, too.
