About Me
I am a proud graduate of Williams College (Go Ephs!). I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biology and English, with a Concentration in Neuroscience. My time with LEGO inspired me to bring fun and engaging educational opportunities to children, especially those with special needs. This led me to pursue substitute teaching and ultimately to become a full time teacher. I received my Master of Science in Secondary Math Education from Johns Hopkins University and have been a Secondary Special Education teacher in Texas for four years. Although I teach all four core subjects, I am most passionate about making Math and Science engaging and relevant for middle school and high school students. I love working with students with diverse learning needs and I'm comfortable modifying the content to meet each person at their personal starting point. I set high expectations and leverage explicit instruction in organizational skills, study skills, vocational skills, and financial literacy to help our students prepare for standardized tests, college, and their careers. In my spare time, I am an avid reader of thrillers, graphic novels, and comic books, a painter, a writer, and a runner.
Hobbies & Interests
I love to read historical fiction, mysteries and horror/thriller series, graphic novels, and comic books. I am a DC Comics and Image Comics fan, but appreciate a good MCU Series. I am a runner and serve as both the middle school track coach and Special Olympics coach on my campus. I also train in Muay Thai (kickboxing). I love to cook and talk about food!
