I want to be able to give back and help others with their dreams, goals, and visions. I previously worked as a tutor at ForKids in Norfolk, Virginia, as a teacher at Rainbow Station in Glen Allen, Virginia, and I have worked in higher education in the career services department helping students with resume and cover letter writing. I received my undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University, my first masters degree is in academic advising from Kansas State University and I will receive my second masters degree in human resources management from the University of Richmond in May 2017. I tutor college essays, resume writing, cover letter writing, mock interviews, etc. These are my favorite because I am knowledge in those areas and I want to eventually become the director of career services at an institution of higher education. My teaching philosophy is that I cannot do my job, unless you are successful. I will do everything in my power to make sure my students are satisfied with their work and have the tools that they need to be successful after our session has ended. Outside of tutoring I love to travel, I love trying local restaurants, and I love to read thriller/mystery and self-help books.

My first tutoring experience was in the 7th grade. I had a wonderful math teacher who allowed students, once they had finished their practice sets, to help others. I learned then that I had a knack for helping others understand math concepts. I did some tutoring in college and after graduation worked for several tutoring organizations before becoming an actual classroom teacher with Teach For America. Being in the classroom had its challenges and I realized I am more suited to one-on-one interaction with students where I can cater the teaching style to a student's specific needs. Since being a classroom teacher, I have volunteered with GED students with Urbana Adult Education in Urbana, Illinois. Currently, I am back in school and working full-time. I am a current undergraduate student at Columbia University in New York City, pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in History and Economics. These are two of the subjects that I enjoy tutoring the most, but I also have a penchant for tutoring and learning about math and literature. I am passionate about tutoring because I benefited from the personalized guidance of great tutors in my past and I really enjoy seeing students push themselves and develop an appreciation for subject areas or even the mental exercise of test-taking thanks to tutoring.
