I am currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I am also a graduate of the high school International Baccalaureate Program. I have informal experience tutoring high school physics, but am most passionate about tutoring students for the ACT standardized test, having had extensive experience preparing for standardized tests throughout high school. I am eager to aid students in boosting their scores before their upcoming college applications, an important milestone in many students' lives. In my free time, I also enjoy playing tennis.

Harrison's interdisciplinary science background — nanotechnology research, organic chemistry, genetics — means the PSAT's data-heavy math questions and science-oriented reading passages feel like familiar territory rather than abstract exercises. He scored a 1570 on the SAT the PSAT mirrors and teaches all three PSAT sections, with particular strength in the no-calculator math where students need to reason through Heart of Algebra problems without relying on shortcuts. Rated 4.9 by students.
I am a current university student with a passion for academics that I would love to share with students!
I am able to develop an efficient, structured tutoring plan that is pleasant, reinforcing, and rewarding for the respective student.
I'm a current student at the University of Central Florida and I love to tutor passionate students in a variety of subjects. I've taken and passed 15 AP exams in high school, and I've taken several courses at UCF that I could tutor as well.
I'm currently a second-degree seeking student at UCF for accounting. I can tutor in algebra and teach beginning violin/viola/piano. I wish to help kids who may be struggling in math, and help them see that it can be a very fun subject. I'm also very passionate about music, I've been playing the violin since I was 5, and I wish to pass on the excitement of playing an instrument to other kids. Music is something I've grown up with and continue to appreciate having in my life, and I hope that I can influence someone else to have that in their life as well.
I am a University of Central Florida Student pursuing a B.S. in IT at UCF.
I am an incoming medical student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. I graduated from Rice University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Medical Humanities and Business.
I'm a 2nd year medical student at the University of Miami. I have extensive experience tutoring in all science subjects (orgo, biology, genetics, physics), math and reading. I have been an SAT and ACT tutoring for over 6 years now at the local Boys and Girls Club. I also have extensive experience tutoring for the MCAT, from best practices to more technical skills as well. I enjoy tutoring and realize everyone learns in a unique way. I try to cater my style to my student and help them reach the full extent of their capabilities.
I am a 22-year-old medical student. In college, I triple majored in Theoretical Mathematics, Computer Science, and Chemistry. My tutoring experience includes over a dozen classes where I was a TA or grader, many of which involved me teaching classes independently. I am looking forward to tutoring hardworking and motivated students who want to challenge themselves.
I am a rising sophomore at Columbia University studying philosophy. I specialize in tutoring high school math, English, and the SAT. This past year I tutored English and math at an elementary/middle school near Columbia. In my free time, I enjoy listening to and playing jazz in a band at Columbia as well as exploring NYC.
I am currently a student at the University of Central Florida, majoring in Biotechnology and in the Burnett Medical Scholars Program.
No subject, no test, and no question is bigger than you. By the end of our time together, I hope to make you see that my only job was really just to make you see--you really had it in you, all along. If there's any subject in which you truly believe you suck--that you're just the worst, and that nothing will ever help you improve--then don't you dare give up until you've given me a call! I'm a writer, but I love numbers, and nothing makes me more proud than helping students overcome their biggest challenges. I've scored near-perfect on both standardized tests, and I've been helping students understand how to improve their own scores ever since. I'm also capable of tutoring advanced Music Theory topics, as well as Spanish and Mandarin Chinese
I am currently a Harvard student majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Applied Mathematics. I graduated Class Valedictorian in high school and was named National Merit Finalist. I took 16 AP classes in high school, including AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science A, AP Physics C : Mechanics and AP Physics 1, with a score of 5 in all of the tests. I scored a 1570/1600 in my SAT and 800 in the SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test and 790 in the SAT Physics Subject Test.
Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Johns Hopkins means Joshitha lives in the overlap of quantitative problem-solving and dense technical reading — the exact combination the PSAT tests across its math and evidence-based reading sections. She scored 1580 on the SAT and uses that experience to teach students how to handle the no-calculator algebra questions and passage-based writing prompts without overthinking. Rated 5.0 by students.
Dual-tracking computer science and studio art means Parker switches between algorithmic thinking and creative interpretation daily — a combination that maps neatly onto the PSAT's split between no-calculator algebra and evidence-based reading passages. With a perfect 1600 SAT and 36 ACT, he knows exactly where the PSAT's question design overlaps with (and diverges from) the full SAT, and he uses that knowledge to teach section-specific pacing and elimination strategies. Rated 5.0 by students.
I'm Veena and I recently graduated from the University of Miami with a B.S. in Microbiology and Immunology with Chemistry and English Literature as my minors. I've tutored at a Math and Reading learning center in high school and became an employee of the Academic Resource Center at UM where I tutored my peers in STEM subjects. I was an assistant science teacher at a middle school for a year, and a workshop leader for chemistry classes at UM.
I'm an undergraduate at Princeton University working toward a degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, with the Sustainable Energy Certificate.
As a certified writing tutor at Penn's Critical Writing Department, Jessica spent years giving structured feedback on argument and style — the same skills the PSAT's Writing and Language section tests when students must fix grammar in context and improve passage organization. Her 1540 SAT confirms she navigates both the verbal and quantitative sides of the test architecture the PSAT mirrors, and her history degree adds depth to the evidence-based reading passages where recognizing how authors build claims is half the battle.
I am definitely qualified to tutor. However, more than being qualified, what I've always hoped to achieve as a tutor is to develop the ability in my tutees to become strong independent learners with effective study strategies that they can take with them wherever they go. My motto is "Study Smarter, not just Harder!"
Most PSAT prep treats the math and verbal sections as separate worlds, but Max's approach ties them together — the same process-of-elimination logic he teaches for Heart of Algebra questions works on the trickiest command-of-evidence reading problems too. His history teaching background at the university level means he's comfortable breaking down dense passages, and a 1550 SAT confirms he's navigated the full test architecture the PSAT is built from. Rated 4.7 by students.
I am no longer by their side. I seldom have students rely on "tricks"; instead, students will learn the underlying reasoning so that they can extend their solving methods to new related problem types. I look forward to applying my years of tutoring and teaching experience to help many motivated students.
Olivia's American Studies degree meant constant close reading across literary, historical, and political texts — the same skill the PSAT's Evidence-Based Reading section tests when it asks students to trace arguments through paired passages and identify supporting evidence. Her 1560 SAT confirms she knows the test architecture the PSAT mirrors, and she pairs that with deep strength in the Writing and Language section, where her grammar and essay-editing background makes spotting context-dependent errors almost instinctive.
I am a recent college graduate from the University of Florida. I studied both premedical subjects as a biology major and social sciences as an economics major. I have experience mentoring elementary and middle school students in reading and math.
As a med student, Kaitlyn reads dense scientific passages under time pressure every day — which is essentially what the PSAT's Evidence-Based Reading section asks students to do with unfamiliar texts across science, history, and social studies. Her 1500 SAT and biology background also make the data-interpretation and no-calculator math questions feel routine, so she can spend sessions drilling the pacing and process-of-elimination strategies that actually move scores. Rated 4.8 by students.
Studying human biology at Harvard means Destiny reads data-heavy passages and interprets graphs daily — the same skills the PSAT tests across its Evidence-Based Reading and math sections. Her 35 ACT and 1480 SAT show she's conquered both major test architectures, so she knows which strategies transfer to the PSAT and which don't. Rated 5.0 by students.
I am a current undergraduate student at the University of Central Florida pursuing a bachelor???s in music education. During and prior to my time at UCF, I have worked with music students of all ages, helping them gain insight into technique and practice methods, and volunteered time during high school to acting as a tutor for those struggling in academic subjects. In my time acting as an academic tutor, I have found that I most enjoy assisting students struggling with English and math. With all subjects, but especially in regards to these, I often find that students know more than they believe they do. My aim in teaching is to help students take ownership and pride in what they do well, and begin to use this confidence to establish responsibility for their own learning that will advance their knowledge beyond a classroom setting. I believe that the more control students find they have over their own learning, the more successful they will be. In my spare time I enjoy all sorts of films and TV shows, and doing research for social justice advocacy.
I am a National Merit awardee, and a recent USF Graduate with a D.B.A. with Honors in Philosophy and History, both of which I enjoy thoroughly. My job is to make the material as easy to understand for you as it is for me. I have done this by mastering conversational Socratic ask-and-answer methodology to ensure my students attain the capacity to come to the right answers on their own. Additionally, I have invented multiple general tactics and even detailed strategies pertinent to specific question types, with the ability to translate the above to all learning styles including neurodivergent ones -particularly ADHD and anxiety which I myself have- to radically and adaptably simplify the exam for students as per their personal learning aptitudes.
I am a rising senior majoring in civil engineering at the University of Florida (UF). I graduated from Coral Gables Senior High School, with an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, where I had many teachers that I admired and looked up to. The wonderful experiences I had with my teachers in high school is why I am so passionate about tutoring and empowering students to meet their full potential. I have experience tutoring students in both middle and high school to succeed in classes in which they were having academic difficulty. My favorite subjects to tutor are math and science because I am able to share my expertise to give my students the confidence and knowledge to thrive.
Ankit's dual neuroscience and computer science training at Duke means he thinks in systems — which is exactly how to crack the PSAT's math sections, where Heart of Algebra and Passport to Advanced Math problems reward students who see structural patterns instead of grinding through arithmetic. His 1580 SAT confirms he's mastered the test architecture the PSAT mirrors, and his science background makes the data-interpretation and graph-reading questions feel like second nature. Rated 4.8 by students.
I am a current undergraduate student at Duke University seeking a major in neuroscience and a possible minor in literature or chemistry. I have been tutoring higher level courses since the beginning of high school, and although I tutor in a variety of subjects, I specialize in writing, English, and essay editing (especially IB Extended Essays or college essays). I also help students with standardized testing, particularly in the SAT Reading portion of the exam. My passion for tutoring comes from my love of learning and helping others learn, and in my free time I enjoy painting, poetry, and fashion design.
I am a second year Computer Engineering student at the University of Florida. I have experience working for Mathnasium tutoring students from kindergarten through high school. I love tutoring math as it has always been my favorite subject and I really enjoy the problem solving aspect of the subject.
I am a certified Math 5-9 Teacher in FL. I taught middle and high school for two years. I am a graduate of Florida State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Social Science with a focus in Public Administration and Sociology. After graduation, I took a gap year before graduate school to serve in AmeriCorps. I highly recommend it! I currently do photography and work at a startup. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math. I have worked with students in grades K-12. I cater to each student's individual learning style. In my experience, it is always rewarding seeing my students have that "aha moment" when they understand a concept or when their confidence and attitude towards a subject has changed from when we started. This in turn is reflected in their improved test scores and grades in the class. I am a firm believer in fully investing in my students to help them reach their highest potential.
My tutoring sessions are interactive, patient, and highly personalized. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all methodeach student learns differently, so I adapt my approach to match their individual pace, goals, and learning style. I focus on helping students truly understand the why behind each concept, not just memorize formulas or shortcuts. Together, we work step-by-step through problems, discussing reasoning, strategy, and underlying principles until everything clicks. My goal is to build lasting confidence and clarity. Whether a student is catching up, aiming to excel, or just trying to feel more comfortable with the material, I create a supportive environment where they can ask questions freely, think critically, and stay engaged. I also believe in strong communicationkeeping parents informed and helping students take ownership of their learning. Above all, I want my students to leave each session feeling capable, confident, and genuinely connected to what they're learning.
Biomedical engineering coursework trains you to read dense technical material and solve quantitative problems under pressure — two skills that map neatly onto the PSAT's evidence-based reading passages and its algebra-heavy math sections. Aditi scored 1500 on the SAT and 33 on the ACT, so she's navigated both major test formats and knows where the PSAT's question styles overlap. She's particularly strong on the no-calculator section, where setting up equations cleanly matters more than crunching numbers.
I am Pre-Med but majored in Romance Languages and Literatures. I was born in Colombia and speak Spanish at home. I studied abroad in France junior year of high school and in Chile junior year of college, and my experience abroad really strengthened my passion for languages and other cultures.
Adam's linguistics master's degree gives him an unusual advantage on the PSAT's Writing and Language section — he doesn't just know the grammar rules, he understands *why* English syntax works the way it does, which makes spotting context-dependent errors almost automatic. He pairs that with strong math coverage across the algebra and data-analysis questions, and his 1460 SAT means he's already navigated the test architecture the PSAT is built from.
I'm an experienced tutor and teacher with a background in comparative literature, English, German, public policy, and economics. I would love to help you succeed in any of these subjects!

Frequently Asked Questions
The PSAT is a standardized test that measures reading, writing, and math skills—and it's more than just practice for the SAT. For 11th graders, PSAT scores determine eligibility for National Merit Scholarship recognition, which can open doors to college scholarships and opportunities. Even for 10th graders, taking the PSAT helps identify strengths and weaknesses early, giving you time to improve before the SAT.
Score improvement depends on your starting point and how much you prepare, but most students see meaningful gains with focused, personalized instruction. Research on 1-on-1 tutoring shows significant advantages over self-study alone—especially when you identify weak areas and tackle them systematically. Working with a tutor helps you develop test-specific strategies, manage timing, and build confidence, which often translates to 50-150+ point improvements on the 320-1520 PSAT scale.
Many students struggle with pacing—the PSAT gives you limited time per section, and rushing leads to careless errors. Reading comprehension and vocabulary questions trip up a lot of test-takers, especially when passages are dense or unfamiliar. Math timing is another big one, particularly with grid-in questions where you have to bubble in your own answers. A tutor can help you develop strategies for each section, practice under timed conditions, and identify whether your challenge is content knowledge or test-taking technique.
A solid PSAT prep timeline is typically 4-8 weeks of consistent study, though this varies based on your starting level and target score. For 10th graders taking it as practice, 4-6 weeks of tutoring 1-2 times per week is usually enough to learn strategies and identify weak areas. For 11th graders aiming for National Merit recognition, 8-12 weeks of preparation often yields better results. The key is starting early enough to take multiple practice tests and adjust your approach based on what you learn.
Not necessarily—your prep should target your specific weak areas. Some students breeze through math but struggle with reading comprehension, while others are the opposite. The best approach is to take a full practice test early, analyze which sections and question types give you trouble, then allocate more study time there. A tutor can help you prioritize by identifying patterns in your mistakes—whether you're missing questions due to timing, concept gaps, or misunderstanding what the question is asking.
Taking at least 3-4 full-length practice tests under timed conditions is ideal—this helps you build stamina, get comfortable with the format, and track your progress over time. The College Board releases official PSAT practice tests, which are your best resource since they match the actual test format exactly. Between full tests, you can do targeted practice on specific sections or question types. A tutor can help you review your practice test results, identify patterns in your mistakes, and adjust your strategy before test day.
Test anxiety is common, but personalized tutoring helps by building confidence through familiarity—when you've practiced under timed conditions repeatedly, the actual test feels less intimidating. Tutors can teach you specific strategies like deep breathing before difficult sections, skipping hard questions and returning to them, and positive self-talk. Getting plenty of sleep the night before, eating a good breakfast, and arriving early to settle in also make a real difference in managing anxiety and performing your best.
Varsity Tutors connects Orlando students with expert tutors who specialize in PSAT prep and understand the specific challenges you're facing. When you get matched with a tutor, you'll work 1-on-1 on your weak areas, practice test-taking strategies, and build the confidence you need before test day. Your tutor can also help you create a personalized study plan based on your timeline and goals—whether you're aiming for National Merit recognition or just want to improve your baseline score.
