Learning occurs when a student is in a safe, comfortable environment where they feel respected and engaged. As a teacher, I pride myself on ensuring that every student in my classroom feels like they have a voice, and that their voice is important. A student should never feel ashamed or afraid to express their opinion. When I teach, I start with a passionate approach to the material. I love Language Arts and strive to garner as much knowledge about the material as I can so that I can present true and credible information to my students. I then determine the most exciting way to convey the material so that each student is engaged. I learn as much as I can about the student's interests, passions, and hobbies, so that I can create analogies to their lives and impart the information in such a way that they can apply it to what they already know and care about. I believe that this method contributes to long term retention. My goal is, not only for my class to do well on standardized exams, but to carry a lifelong passion for learning and for the material that I've presented them. I feel an enormous sense of pride when I know that I've made a difference in a student's life. I want my students to see the importance of education and value in the betterment of themselves and their community.I believe that test scores don't tell the entire story of a student's progress, but an overview of the student as a whole is important to measure learning. How has the student progressed in the classroom? Have they shown a new interest in the subject? Have they volunteered more information about themselves over the course of a semester? Are they willing to participate in class discussion, whereas, before they were quiet? These are all questions I ask myself and measures I use to determine if I am teaching effectively. I believe in always working to become a better teacher and person. Therefore, I am always measuring my progress as well as the student's, and asking myself what I can do to become better at my job. One of the best ways for me to be a better teacher is to learn from my students.I embrace technology in my classroom and want the students to be excited about Language Arts as it applies to the world in which they operate. Social Media, blogging, and the internet in general are important spheres for education, and I like to make a connection to technology and the subject matter in which I'm teaching so that students are excited to see the application.

Enabling students to grasp the foundational knowledge and skills that they will use for the rest of their lives is a wonderful gift. Good education is, in my belief, the single most important thing we can pass on to the younger generation. I am very motivated to equip young minds to learn more about the academic world, introducing them to Mathematics, English, and Science. Equally important to convey are life skills including treating others with respect, working in teams, and learning how to be fit and healthy. My experience tutoring is rooted in anywhere from elementary to college-aged students. Through the RISE for Success Program at my undergraduate institution, I have been able to gain an adept understanding of how many college students learn material. Through various tutoring opportunity as a team leader during summer camp I have also developed several methods for tutoring/teaching new material to student ages 10-17. Each of these experiences has revealed that no two students learn exactly the same and that each lesson must essentially be catered to the specific student and subject. As a medical student, I am a firm believer that an essential part of patient care is quality patient education. In school, more education translates into better opportunities, and in life, education provides greater control over ones circumstances. Meaningful patient education can have a parallel effect. Tutoring inspires me to set my own personal goals of listening and communicating more clearly in my day-to-day interactions with the hope that one day as a practicing physician I will be able to hone these skills and thereby empower my patients to be in control of their health as well through educating them.

Anatomy & Physiology Tutor • +5 Subjects
I am a graduate of The University of Florida. I received my Bachelor of Science with emphasis in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology. I then went on to receive my Doctorate of Physical Therapy, also from The University of Florida. Since graduation I have worked in a clinical setting as an outpatient Physical Therapist, where a vital aspect of practice is teaching my patients (education regarding their injury, treatment plan, exercise prescription etc.). Over that time, I have honed many teaching techniques in order to be successful with a variety of patients all with different learning styles; visual, demonstrative, descriptive, etc. I tutor a variety of subjects from anatomy/physiology to math, as all are relevant in the practice of Physical Therapy. I especially love math and anatomy, due to their concrete nature. I am a firm believer in life-long learning and helping others is the best way to continually learn myself. In my spare time, I enjoy fitness, outdoor activities such as biking & hiking, and arts/crafts. I am also a lover of college football, GO GATORS!

I recently graduated from Haverford College with a major in East Asian Languages and Cultures and a minor in Chinese. I am currently considering graduate school in China as a way of immersing myself in Chinese culture and broadening the range of my academic experience. I have tutored students since my time in high school at Walter Payton College Prep. My first tutoring job came about when my math teacher at the time asked me to work with three students in Trigonometry and Algebra 2. Since that first tutoring experience, I always knew that I wanted to work with students to help them better understand their course material. In college, I worked with many classmates who were struggling in Chinese by having regular conversations with them and showing different methods of learning the languageit's much easier than you think, I swear! Chinese is my favorite subject to tutor. Not only is the language itself beautifully methodical, but also the experience of learning and teaching another language along with its immense history and culture is extremely rewarding. For instance, there's nothing better than finding a sense of humor in another language. My teaching philosophy is to create as much student engagement as possible and to constantly improve upon the methods of engagement. When learning Chinese, it is critical for the student to bridge the gap between hearing the language in their head and speaking it out loud.Outside of academia, my interests revolve around making all kinds of things: composing music, cooking Chinese dishes, building sculptures, or anything at all! I find it is extremely therapeutic and important to put under-utilized creative energy to use. I also really enjoy graphic novels and science fiction literature. They are great sources of inspiration for the music and art I make.

I'm a graduate of the University of Georgia where I majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and obtained a minor in Public Health. I currently work as a research scientist at a biomedical research institute. My flair for peer tutoring is the result of retrospection, a gift of my introverted nature. I have realized that there are many concepts across various subjects that I did not fully grasp at the time I was learning them. However, a couple of months and even years after taking those classes, when I finally connected the dots, there are a couple of ways I wish those concepts would have been explained to me. Sometimes I also wish that I would have thought to ask certain questions. As a peer tutor, I hope to prompt you to ask those questions and help you connect those dots so that the learning process can be more fulfilling and enjoyable. Standardized tests do not have to be fearsome mountains either. They can be an exciting experience to demonstrate your knowledge if you understand the concepts. (I say that from my experience as someone who's not the biggest fan of tests.)I look forward to guiding you to succeed, and hopefully, helping you enjoy the journey to success.

In every setting, I use various methods and materials that are available to try and relate the material to the student's life.As a tutor, I love to inspire students and show them their own strengths to boost confidence. I like to follow my previous supervisor's tutoring motto, which was "We work to put ourselves out of a job," meaning my goal is to help you until you don't need my help. My job is to boost your confidence and skill in the material and show you how to do it on your own.Beyond tutoring, I am a full-time Master's student, and I enjoy Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Frequently Asked Questions
The CMA exam tests knowledge across clinical, administrative, and general medical competencies, requiring candidates to master anatomy, medical terminology, clinical procedures, and healthcare regulations simultaneously. Many test-takers struggle with time management during the exam or gaps in specific content areas. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction allows tutors to identify your weak spots and create a targeted study plan, rather than covering material generically like classroom preparation courses do.
The CMA exam is organized around three main domains: General Medical Knowledge (anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, and disease processes), Administrative Duties (medical records, insurance, scheduling, and billing), and Clinical Duties (patient care, specimen handling, vital signs, and clinical procedures). A qualified tutor will help you understand how these areas interconnect and ensure you're prepared to apply knowledge in realistic clinical scenarios, not just memorize facts.
Most candidates benefit from 4-6 weeks of focused preparation, though this depends on your background and prior knowledge. If you're new to medical terminology or have been away from clinical work, you may need 8-10 weeks. With personalized tutoring, you can compress your timeline by focusing study time on the areas where you need the most help, rather than spending equal time on topics you already understand.
Look for tutors with current CMA certification, clinical experience, and a track record of helping candidates pass the exam. Beyond credentials, the best tutors understand how to break down complex concepts—like interpreting EKGs or understanding medical billing codes—into manageable pieces and can explain the 'why' behind procedures. They should also be comfortable using practice exams strategically and can help you develop test-taking strategies tailored to the exam format.
Practice exams are essential—they reveal knowledge gaps, build familiarity with question formats, and reduce test anxiety. Research on learning science shows that practice testing is one of the most effective study strategies. A tutor can use your practice exam results diagnostically to pinpoint exactly which content areas or question types need attention, then create focused lessons to address those gaps before test day.
The exam is roughly split between clinical duties and administrative/general knowledge, with slightly more emphasis on clinical skills. Many candidates find the administrative section challenging because it requires understanding complex systems like medical billing and insurance verification. Personalized instruction helps you practice both areas under test conditions, so you're confident applying clinical skills and administrative knowledge together, just as you would in a real medical office.
With solid preparation, most candidates pass on their first attempt. Success depends on consistent study, understanding core concepts, and identifying your weak areas early. A tutor can help you create a realistic study plan, keep you accountable, and boost your confidence by test day. They can also help you understand what 'passing readiness' looks like based on your practice exam scores and provide strategies for managing test anxiety during the actual exam.
